Baseball Splits at NKU

The Wright State baseball team split at Northern Kentucky Friday afternoon.  NKU held off a Raider comeback to win the first game 12-11 as Wright State won game two 12-5.

The first game saw eight homeruns between the two teams as the Norse jumped to an 11-1 lead after four innings.  NKU scored once in the first, five in the second and five more in the fourth and hit five homeruns on the game.  WSU's Brandon Giltrow collected his first homerun of the year in fourth as Gabe Snyder and Peyton Burdick added round trippers.

Snyder finished with five RBI on two hits, including a grand slam in the seventh.  Burdick had three hits as JD Orr, Matt Morrow and Alders each collected two hits.  Off the bench, Adrian Marquez picked up a double and an RBI as did Zane HarrisRyan Weiss took his first loss of the year, giving up nine earned runs in three innings.

In game two, the Raiders jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first and added four in the third, twoin the fourth with two more in the eighth to seal the 12-5 win.  Alders led the way with four hits, including a triple and two RBI.  Morrow, Burdick and Harris each had two hits with a double each.  Seth Gray added a double as well.  Daniel Kreuzer picked up the win with seven innings, five earned runs and three strikeouts.

WSU is now 14-10 and 5-3.  The teams will play the final game of the series at 1 pm Saturday.
