The Wright State baseball team will jump back into Horizon League action this weekend as they host second place Youngstown State.
The Raiders, 19-12 and 8-4, will host the Penguins Friday for a doubleheader at 4 pm and single game Saturday at 2 pm.
Wright State is coming off a win over state-rival Xavier 9-7 in the second day of the Joe Nuxhull Classic in Oxford, OH Wednesday. Gabe Snyder needs one RBI to tie the all-time career record of 183 held by Alfredo Batista (1983-86). He also is three shy of the all-time career home run record of 42 set by Bryan Vickers (2002-05).
Peyton Burdick holds a batting average .336 with a team-best 42 hits and 11 doubles. Snyder is currently hitting .328 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI. Pitcher Daniel Kreuzer is 5-1 with an ERA of 3.21 in 42 innings while reliever Derek Hendrixson has picked up six saves.
YOUNGSTOWN STATE
The Penguins, 10-19 and 7-4, sits in second place, right behind the Raiders. Last weekend, YSU split two games with Oakland after sweeping UIC the week before. YSU also defeated Bowling Green 9-6 Tuesday. Wright State won four of five meetings last year, including two played at Nischwitz Stadium. Blaze Glenn and Trey Bridis lead the Penguins with .303 batting averages as Glenn holds a team-best six home runs and 20 RBI.
