Box Score In their first game back at the Nutter Center after a three-game road swing the Wright State women's basketball team beat the Oakland Grizzlies by a score of 69-58.
Mackenzie Taylor led all players with 19 points, nine of which came from deep.
Michal Miller added another 10 points, shooting 5/14 on the night.
Symone Simmons led all players in rebounds, hauling in 16 against the Grizzlies. Simmons now stands just five rebounds shy of tying Wright State's all-time record.

1st Quarter
The Raiders first score of the night came off of a backcourt violation,
Michal Miller banked her jump shot high off the glass. Two possessions late
Mackenzie Taylor sliced her way through the defense for a layup to extend the Raider lead.
Emily Vogelpohl would provide the next spark for the Raiders with a three-pointer and on the ensuing inbound pass a steal. Off of the steal Vogelpohl would get her layup to drop. Vogelpohl's quick five points would trigger a timeout from the Grizzly bench with 7:33 remaining on the clock.
Symone Simmons would extend the Raider lead 11-0 with a powerful drive to the basket. After putting in extra effort on a rebound
Teneshia Dixon provided the next points for the Raiders, rolling in a layup with 2:32 on the clock.
Emily Vogelpohl would put in the final two points of the quarter with the Raiders leading 17-11.

2nd Quarter
The Grizzlies struck first in the half with a three-pointer to cut the Raiders' lead to three.
Mackenzie Taylor would break the Grizzlies' short streak with a three-pointer from the corner. Coming out of the media timeout Oakland would strike first and pull the score back within three points. After Raider foul the Grizzlies' leading scorer Taylor Jones would put more pressure on the Raiders by sinking both of her free-throws. On the next possession
Angel Baker would pickpocket a steal and
Imani Partlow would turn it into two points on the other end while also drawing the foul. Partlow would sink her shot to make the score 25-20. After a quick two points and a free throw the Grizzlies would pull back within two but
Symone Simmons would answer with her own two points to maintain the Raider lead. Two free throws from
Mackenzie Taylor would extend the Raider lead to 29-23. At the two minute mark
Michal Miller would be the next Raider to put points on the board and then a traveling violation would give Wright State the ball back. Off of a missed shot
Angel Baker would collect the rebound and quickly slice down to the other end where she would dish the ball behind her back to
Nia Sumpter who would finish the play with a layup.

After a

Tyler Frierson put in two short jumpers to extend the Raider lead back to six points. Off of a

Mackenzie Taylor would sink a shot from behind the arc and make the score 42-33. From a

Imani Partlow, who would finish the play with a layup under the basket. The eight second play would also extend the Raiders' lead to double-digits, 46-35. After an

Jalise Beck would be the next Raider to score with a smooth layup in transition. The Grizzlies would put in a late shot in the waning seconds of the quarter to make the score 54-44 in favor of the Raiders.

4th Quarter
Symone Simmons scored first in the quarter for the Raiders and
Mackenzie Taylor added another three on the next possession. After
Mackenzie Taylor's three-point shot rang out of the basket,
Symone Simmons collected the rebound and finished with the put back to extend the Raiders' lead to 14.
Jalise Beck would score next for the Raiders with a long floater in the lane to make the score 62-46 with 5:24 remaining in the game. Ninety seconds later Beck would add another two points to her game total. With 2:01 on the clock
Jalise Beck came up with a powerful block underneath the basket and the score standing at 66-50. In the Raiders' penultimate possession of the game
Angel Baker would sink her shot from behind the arc and add three points to her total. Although the Grizzlies would score a three in the last seconds of the game it would be too little as the score stood at 69-58.
