Box Score The Wright State women's basketball team battled against Iowa State all afternoon before the Cyclones held on late to hand the Raiders a 79-71 loss on Sunday in Ames, Iowa.
With the loss, Wright State falls to 5-4 overall while Iowa State improves to 7-2 overall. The Raiders on the road and head to the sunshine state to take part in the UCF Holiday Tournament. The Raiders will face off against St. Bonaventure on December 20 at 12:00 p.m. and then take on UCF, December 21 at 1:30 p.m.
The Raiders won the tip and score the first two points of the contest. Wright State continued to battle through the remainder of the first half and headed into the locker room at halftime down 34-24.
Wright State fought back from a 12 point deficit and with 1:14 left to play in the contest had pulled within five. The Cyclones were able to hold on to the lead and walked away victorious.
Michal Miller finished with a team-high 24 points for the Raiders, adding three assists, four rebounds and two steals.Â
Angel Baker contributed 15 points of her own, pulled down six rebounds and had a team-leading four assists.
Jalise Beck recorded six points and provided three assists and two steals for the Raiders.
Wright State shot 49 percent for the game, while Iowa State finished the night shooting 43 percent. Wright State hit five three-pointers and finished the night shooting 60 percent from the free throw line (6-for-10). Iowa State went to the line 26 times, making 25 and finishing the night shooting 96 percent from the line.
