Angel Baker recorded a career-best on Friday night, tallying 34 points to lead the Wright State women's basketball team to an 69-61 victory over SMU inside Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.
Baker recorded eight points, one rebound and one assist in the first quarter and finished the quarter shooting 4-4 from the field and went on to record an 14-point third quarter, shooting 6-6 from the field and 1-1 from beyond the arc.
Michal Miller finished with 11 points and
Tyler Frierson added seven points and led the Raiders with 11 rebounds. In total, seven different Wright State players contributed in the scoring column.
SMU would find the first points of the night and trailed by five at 20-15 at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders would go on to have a 15 point lead before the Mustangs answered and outscored Wright Sate 19-16 in the third quarter.
Wright State finished the night shooting 44 percent (25-for-57) rate from the floor. The Raiders hit 64% from the free throw line, led by
Angel Baker shooting 8-for-10 from the line. Wright State recorded 22 points off of fast breaks and converted on 11 of their 15 layups. The Raiders led 34:27 to the Mustangs 3:22.
With the win, the Raiders improve to 4-3 while the Mustangs fall to 3-4.
For their only home contest of December, Wright State welcomes Marian on December 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. inside the Nutter Center.
