@WSUBaseball Cruises to Weekend Sweep

For the second straight day, Wright State (7-4) rolled to a blowout victory over Ohio University (3-10). After a 13-0 shutout victory on Saturday, the Raiders returned to Nischwitz Stadium and defeated Ohio 12-1.

1st Inning
Tristan Haught made his first career start for Wright State and set down the Bobcats in a scoreless first. In the home half, JD Orr took the first Ohio pitch of the game to center field for a single.  The senior swiped his eighth and ninth bases on the season to end up at third, and Peyton Burdick and Zane Harris drew walks to load the bases for Seth Gray. Gray hit a ball off the top of the wall in right for a 2-RBI double. Zach Weatherford continued the onslaught with a deep fly ball over the head of the Bobcat left fielder and ended up on third, scoring two more runs. Damon Dues executed a successful sac fly to conclude the five-run first for the Raiders.

2nd Inning
Brandon Giltrow crushed a ball to left for a solo homer on the first pitch to extend the Wright State lead to 6-0. Orr singled in the next at-bat and stole another base, but Ohio avoided any more damage.

4th Inning
The Bobcats threatened to score in the third, putting runners at second and third with no outs. Haught responded with a strikeout, a pop fly to third, and a flyout to Zach Weatherford in center field. In the fourth, Bradley Brehmer took over on the mound and recorded the first 1-2-3 inning for Wright State closing the frame with back-to-back strikeouts. Giltrow and JD Orr both drew walks and Chase Slone put down a perfect sacrifice bunt to place both runners in scoring position. Ohio inserted their third pitcher of the game who escaped from the fourth, leaving Giltrow and Orr stranded.

6th Inning
An error allowed a Bobcat runner on base in the fifth, but Wright State ended the inning on a strikeout and throw out when Giltrow gunned down a stolen base attempt. Ohio finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth with a run. In the home half of the sixth, JD Orr reached base for the fourth straight time and stole a base for the fourth time. Chase Slone delivered an RBI double to push the Raider lead to six once more. Wright State added on more run on an Ohio throwing error.

7th Inning
Brehmer returned for his fourth inning of work in the seventh and recorded a seven-pitch perfect seventh. Damon Dues added his third hit of the game and came around to score after Quincy Hamilton singled off the bench and JD Orr reached on a fielder's choice. Chase Slone ripped a home run to left and Wright State took an 11-1 lead.

8th Inning
Riley Perlich entered in the eighth and continued the Raider dominance on the mound with a scoreless inning. Connor Regan grabbed a bat off the bench and roped a homer over the left field wall in his first appearance at the plate this season.

Henry Von Hollen wrapped up the weekend sweep for Wright State in the ninth. Ohio couldn't stop the Raiders offensively, who hit three home runs, recorded 12 runs on 14 hits, and stole six bases. In the two game series, the Raiders allowed just a single run an only allowed three runs on the weekend. WSU returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Cincinnati for a single game against the Bearcats.
