Both teams were marred by turnovers early in the game with the Raiders getting on the boards first at the 7:22 mark with a Michal Miller floater. Two possessions later, Emily Vogelpohl would feed the ball through traffic to Tyler Frierson for two points under the basket. The Jags would finally get on the boards with one foul shot at the 5:32 mark. Quick in transition, Angel Baker would put in a high floater to make the sore 6-1 in favor of the Raiders. Backing down her defender, Imani Partlow would add two points high off the glass. After an 0/10 start, IUPUI would sink their first shot from the field with a three-pointer from Sydney Roule. Roule would sink a second three-pointer on the next possession for the Jags. Taking the ball from end to end with only seconds remaining in the quarter, Angel Baker would sink her second floater as time expired to make the score 12-7.
