@WSUBaseball Cruises Past the Racers

Wright State (13-5) defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio 8-1 in an impressive, collective pitching effort.  The mid-week game between the two schools was scheduled just yesterday.

Freshman Riley Perlich got his second career start and went 3.2 innings.  Perlich and fellow freshmen Tristan Haught and Henry Von Hollen combined to throw seven hitless innings. Tyler Luneke and Evan Moores pitched the eight and ninth.  The quintet of pitchers held the Racers to just one hit on the day, striking out six and walking three.  Haught got the  win for his first career collegiate victory.

UNOH moved to 5-15-1 on the year.  Sophomore Ryan Jungbauer, one of nine pitchers on the day for the Racers, took the loss in his only decision of the season to date.

SCORING
3rd Inning

The Raiders opened the scoring as JD Orr singled and advanced to second on a throwing error, and Zach Weatherford was a hit by a pitch.  Zane Harris delivered a two-out single to right to score both base runners.

5th Inning
Orr and Weatherford again jump-started the Raiders with a walk and single to start out the bottom half of the inning.  Another walk to Peyton Burdick loaded the bases with no one out.  Zane Harris knocked in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly to right to bring in Orr.  With two outs Alex Alders doubled to left field, scoring Weatherford.  The Racers escaped with limited damage, though, trailing 4-0.

7th Inning
The Raiders batted around while putting up four runs.  Burdick and Damon Dues each drew walks to start and scored on a Seth Gray triple into right center field. Gray later scored on a wild pitch. Alders took a four-pitch walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and swiped third. Chase Slone put a ball in play to score Alders and make it 8-0.

8th Inning
The Racers logged their first hit and run as Cam Shannon tripled over Orr in left, and scored two pitches later on a sacrifice fly to shallow right.

NOTES
  • The Raiders recorded eight hits in all, with Zane Harris leading the way with two of them, along with three RBI
  • Seth Gray's triple in the seventh was his third of the season, which leads the team
  • Orr recorded a stolen base, his 22nd of the season.  Orr is on pace to obliterate the season record of 36 set two years ago by Weatherford

The Raiders have now won 10 of their last 11 games, and prepare to head to Chicago for a weekend series at UIC.  The Flames opened up conference play last weekend, sweeping Oakland.  They stand at 6-9 overall.
