In their second ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the No.13 seed Wright State Raiders fell at the No. 4 seed Texas A&M Aggies by a score of 84-61.  The Aggies were aided by a big first quarter against the Raiders and by hot shooting from behind the arc. The Raiders end their season with 27 wins, the most ever by a Wright State women's basketball team. The Aggies will advance to play No. 5 seed Marquette Golden Eagles Sunday.

Aggie Chennedy Carter led all players in the game with 27 points. The Raiders' Angel Baker put on an equally impressive performance with 22 points, three assists, and two steals. Michal Miller tallied 12 points, all of which came in the second half. Mackenzie Taylor added 10 points and pulled in six rebounds. Carter had been out for the Aggies during their SEC Tournament run with a hand injury. To break the Raiders' scoring drought, Anisja Harris hit a long two to make the score 8-20 in favor of the Aggies. Angel Baker cut into the Aggies' lead with a three-pointer. An Aggie three-pointer and another score by Chennedy Carter doubled up the score against the Raiders. The quarter ended with an Aggies score in the waning seconds to make the score 13-31

Merriweather Said

"First of all, I'm very, very proud of this group. They just played one of the top 15 teams in the country and what they were able to do in terms of what our game plan is in rebounding basketball and only getting out‑rebounded by five."

"I will say that A&M had a lot more opportunities, the way that they stuck together out there, a very tough environment. We knew a lot of things were going to have to go our way in order for us to come out on top today. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I'm very, very proud of the effort and how hard they played."
