Box Score After falling to the Xavier Musketeers in a 10-inning nailbiter from Nischwitz Stadium on Tuesday, the Raiders traveled to Cincinnati to take on the same Xavier squad on Wednesday. The result from Hayden Field went in favor of the Raiders who won decisively 10-0.
Sam Wirsing,
Henry Von Hollen, and
Chase Slone put up a shutout for Wright State on the mound.
Tyler Black had a monster day at the plate with four hits, three runs, four RBI, and a home run.
2nd Inning
Wright State opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the second.
Zach Weatherford led off with a double and
Tyler Black recorded his first of four RBIs with a single scoring Weatherford.
Chase Slone and
Brandon Giltrow followed with singles and
Tyler Black came around to score.
5th Inning
In the third, Xavier finally connected on their first hit against starter
Sam Wirsing who worked around a pair of baserunners to continue the shutout. Wirsing continued his strong start in the fourth and fifth where the Raider offense tagged Xavier for four runs.
Peyton Burdick singled,
Seth Gray walked, and
Zach Weatherford put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position.
Quincy Hamilton then connected for an RBI single and
Tyler Black slugged a ball over the right field fence for a three-run homer.
6th Inning
Wright State kept the offense rolling with two more runs in the frame to extend their lead to 8-0.
Damon Dues began the sixth with a double and
JD Orr added an RBI single. Orr took advantage of back-to-back balks from Nick Zwack to score.
9th Inning
The Raiders wrapped up the victory with two more runs in the final inning.
Tyler Black added his fourth hit of the game to left and headed to second after a wild pitch. Black scored after
Zane Harris put a ball in play. The tenth and final Wright State run crossed after
Damon Dues added an RBI single allowing
Chase Slone to score.
Wright State returns home to face the Youngstown State Penguins in a Horizon League weekend series beginning on Friday.
