Wright State (15-7) looks to stay atop the Horizon League standings with a three-game weekend series against last-place Youngstown State (2-21). The Penguins have struggled to open the season, even more so on the road, where they are 1-19. The Raiders have fared well at home, posting an 8-2 record at Nischwitz Stadium this season.
The Raiders have already claimed two Horizon League series this season, where they have been led by their electric offense. Peyton Burdick has continued to be hot all season, leading the team in hits (31), doubles (8), RBI (25), walks (21), and on base % (.592). Burdick and Zach Weatherford lead the team in home runs with four on the season.
Bear Bellomy, Zane Collins, and Bradley Brehmer are expected to be the starting pitchers this weekend. Bellomy has posted a 2-3 record on the season, where he has a 4.64 ERA. He also is second on the team in IP (33.0) and strike outs (25), only trailing Collins who has 34.0 IP and 26 strike outs. Collins is 5-1 on the season with a 2.91 ERA. Brehmer is slated to make his third start of the season, and boasts a 2-0 record and a 4.66 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched.
Sophomore Jeff Wehler has been an offensive leader for Youngstown State, where he leads the team in hits (21), stolen bases (10), and batting average (.244). Colin Clark leads the Penguins pitching staff with 25 strike outs and 31.1 IP. Friday and Saturday's games will be featured on ESPN+.
