Wright State
The Raiders are riding a five-game winning streak, including a three-game sweep of Oakland at home last weekend and a non-conference win over Cedarville 11-0 Wednesday. WSU outscored the Grizzlies 33-9. Senior JD Orr continued his hot streak, posting 11 steals in the four games to become the school's single season leader with 40 this year. Orr also leads the nation in steals. His 98 career steals approaches that record as well of 101 set by Bill Stosik (1995-98). Friday night, Bear Bellomy threw a gem in his ninth start of the season, going the complete game and earning his fourth victory of the season in a 6-2 Raiders triumph. In the Saturday doubleheader, Zane Collins picked up his Horizon League-best sixth win of the season, and Bradley Brehmer improved his perfect record to 5-0.
Peyton Burdick tops the Raiders with a .386, 51 hits, 12 doubles and 40 RBI through 37 games. Seth Gray is hitting .363 with team-best 42 RBI while Zach Weatherford is hitting .336. Orr is at .314. Burdick, Gray and Weatherford ranked in the Horizon League's top ten.
Milwaukee
The Panthers also had a big weekend as they swept Youngstown State at home, outscoring them 38-13 with 58 hits in the three games. Milwaukee posted early-season wins over Villanova, Pittsburgh, Arizona and Purdue. In the Horizon League opening weekend in mid-March, the Raiders won two of three at Nischwitz Stadium, losing Friday 11-10 but winning 3-0 and 3-2. WSU leads overall 66-57. Milwaukee won the lone game in Milwaukee last year 4-3 due to rain. That game was played at Miller Park.
Trevor Schwecke leads the Panthers at .376, 31 RBI and 12 doubles in 28 games while Joe Vyskocil holds a .346 average with a .576 slugging percentage. Schwecke was named the Co-Batter of the Week last week as he hit .647. He totaled 11 hits in 17 at-bats including two doubles and a triple for a .882 slugging percentage. .Jake Sommers has a 2.12 ERA in a team-high 14 appearances with five saves but gave up two hits and walked two in 0.1 innings against the Raiders on March 17 for the loss. Jared Reklaittis got the win over WSU on March 15 in six innings.
