@WSUBaseball Dominates Wofford in Mid-Week Contest

Fairborn, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team returned to action at Nischwitz Stadium Tuesday afternoon, as they faced Southern Conference foe Wofford. The Raiders pulled ahead early in the game, and would not surrender the lead for the entire game, claiming an 11-4 victory over the Terriers.  The Raiders are now 19-8 while Wofford drops to 19-12.

SCORING
1st Inning – The Raiders jumped out to an early advantage in Tuesday's game thanks to an RBI single from Peyton Burdick, scoring JD Orr, and a 2 RBI double off the bat of Alex Alders, propelling Wright State to a 3-0 lead.

4th Inning – Wright State's offense came back alive in the fourth, having already chased starter Jake Zoller out of the game. Back-to-back RBI singles from Seth Gray and Damon Dues plated a total of 3 runs (2 for Gray, 1 for Dues). Alex Alders added his third RBI of the game on a fielder's choice, and Justin McConnell and Chase Slone added RBI singles to cap off the inning. All told, the Raiders pushed six across the plate in the 4th, increasing their lead to nine runs.

5th Inning – Wofford finally answered the bell in the top half of the fifth, as a two-out Andrew Orzel single off of Mitch Gremling gave the Terriers their first run of the game. A Chase Slone throwing error allowed the second run of the inning to cross, and the Terriers cut the deficit to seven runs.

6th Inning – Zach Weatherford earned his second hit of the game, this time plating Seth Gray for his second run scored of the game, and re-establishing an eight-run lead for Wright State.

8th Inning – Alex Alders solidified himself as player of the game, knocking in his fourth run of the game on a double in the eighth inning.
