Bellomy Shuts Down The Norse

Raiders win 5-0

The Wright State baseball team was back for the final homestand of the season as they took on Northern Kentucky Friday night, shutting down the Norse 5-0.  WSU is now 35-15, 17-8 while NKU drops to 13-35, 11-14.

Bear Bellomy paced the Raiders on the mound, throwing a complete game to shutout Northern Kentucky.  He gave up just two hits, one walk with eight strikeouts on 105 pitches.  At the plate, Tyler Black picked up three hits with two RBI while Peyton Burdick had two hits for two RBI, including a homer in. Chase Slone also ended with two hits.

Bellomy won his fifth straight decision, including three complete games. He is now 5-1 in Horizon League games and 7-3 overall.  It was WSU's first complete game shutout by a pitcher since Jesse Scholtens' no hitter over Dayton on March 11, 2016.

Chase Slone singled up the middle to score Black.

Sogard Says
"Great pitching tonight.  Bear Bellomy gave us an excellent start with good defense behind him.  There was timely hitting by Burdick, Black and others.  It's always good to get the first game of a series."

The Raiders will host NKU Saturday at 2 pm for Senior Day before playing the Norse at Fifth Third Field Sunday.  Free tickets for the Sunday matchup can be reserved by clicking here.
