Sophomore Bryce Haney leads the Raiders after the first round of the NCAA Regional in Pullman, WA Monday afternoon. As a team, the Raiders are 14th with a round of 302.
Haney shot a round of 70, two under par and tied for 32nd. Austin Schoonmaker ended Monday tied for 66th with a round of 75.Â
"We played pretty average golf for the better part of the day today," WSU head coach Brian Arlinghaus said. "I'm not exactly sure what happened but with about four holes left it looked like our guys ran out of gas, and that's really where the round got away from us. We played holes 15-18 in +19 I'm not exactly sure why, but it looked like we ran out of physical and mental gas.  We'll learn from it and go out tomorrow and see if we can improve"
#20 Texas A&M leads the pack overall after shooting 269. Chandler Phillips of A&M, Garrett Reband of Oklahoma and Carson Lundell of BYU sit atop the player leaderboard at six under with scores of 66.
The second round will be played Tuesday with the final round slated for Wednesday.
