The Wright State women's basketball team improves to 3-1 in Horizon League play with a 91-41 victory inside the Nutter Center on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders are now 2-0 at home in the month of January.
With the win, the Raiders improve to 8-7 (3-1 in Horizon League), while Youngstown State falls to 9-6 overall (2-2 in Horizon League). Wright State will return to the road and head to the Windy City to face the UIC Flames on Thursday, January 9 before heading to IUPUI on Saturday, January 11. Both games will be available for steam on ESPN+.
At the end of the first quarter, Wright State was up just eight points but outscored Youngstown 42-8 in the third quarter. The Raiders forced nine Penguin turnovers but converted 16 points from such opportunities. 53 of Wright State 91 points came from the bench and 13 points came from second-chance opportunities. The Raiders outrebounded the Penguins 55-26, pulling down 41 defensive rebounds and 14 offensive.
Sophomore
Anisja Harris turned in a game-high 21 points connecting on seven three pointers. Harris finished the night shooting 7-for-11 from the field, 7-for-10 from beyond arc and pulling down three rebounds and providing three assists.
Jada Roberson turned in 16 points finishing the night 7-for-11 from the field, 1-for-2 from three point range and 1-for-1 from the free throw line and provided five assists for the Raiders.
Michal Miller added 11 points for the Raiders going 5-for-8 from the field and 1-for-2 from three point range. Miller pulled down four rebounds and had a team leading six assists.
Wright State shot 51.4 percent for the game, while Youngstown State converted on just 25.0 percent of their shots. The Raiders converted 10-of-19 three pointers (52.6 percent), while the Penguins connected on just five such opportunities. Wright State finished the night shooting 81.8 percent (9-for-11) from the free throw line while Youngstown State connected on 8 of their 13 such opportunities (61.5 percent).
