
Raiders return to road, face UIC Thursday

The Wright State women's basketball team looks to stay in the win column as the Raiders hit the road and face UIC in the Windy City on Thursday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

The Raiders are coming off a 91-41 victory inside the Nutter Center on Saturday over Youngstown State. At the end of the first quarter, Wright State was up just eight points but outscored Youngstown State 42-8 in the third quarter. The Raiders forced nine Penguin turnovers but converted 16 points from such opportunities. A total of 53 of Wright State's 91 points came from the bench and 13 points came from second-chance opportunities. The Raiders out-rebounded the Penguins 55-26, pulling down 41 defensive rebounds and 14 offensive boards.
Sophomore Anisja Harris turned in a game-high 21 points, connecting on seven three-pointers. Harris finished the night shooting 7-for-11 from the field, 7-for-10 from beyond arc and pulled down three rebounds and provided three assists. Jada Roberson turned in 16 points, finishing the night 7-for-11 from the field, 1-for-2 from three point range and 1-for-1 from the free throw line and added five assists for the Raiders. Michal Miller added 11 points, for the Raiders going 5-for-8 from the field and 1-for-2 from three point range. Miller pulled down four rebounds and had a team-leading six assists.
With the victory, Wright State improved to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in Horizon League play while Youngstown State fell to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in HL action.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- In October, UIC was picked to finish tenth in the Horizon League Preseason poll with earing 17 points.
- Tasha Pointer enters her second season as the head coach of the UIC women's basketball program. Pointer spent the 2017-18 season as an assistant coach at Northwestern, following a two-year stint at St. John's. Prior to her time in Queens, Pointer was on the legendary C. Vivian Stringer's staff at Rutgers for eight years.
- UIC opened their 2019-20 campaign on the road at Purdue Fort Wayne, where they fell 50-61 to the Mastodons. The Flames' schedule included contests against Kansas and Kansas State. UIC is currently 2-13 overall and 1-3 in HL play as they defeated Oakland 70-64 in overtime on Saturday.
