The Wright State baseball team left 13 runners stranded on Friday afternoon as the Raiders dropped the weekend series opener at Western Kentucky 6-2.
Â
The series continues tomorrow with a 2 p.m. ET first pitch from Kentucky.
Â
Wright State left at least one runner stranded in each inning, including leaving the bases loaded to end the third and stranding a pair of runners in both the sixth and ninth frames.
Â
Scoreless through three and a half innings, Western Kentucky got on the board first with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fourth. Wright State briefly took the lead in the top of the fifth when Quincy Hamilton and Tyler Black drew back-to-back walks and were driven home on Gehrig Anglin's triple into right field.
Â
The Raider lead was short lived, as Western Kentucky responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double and Raider throwing error to regain the advantage. The hosts added on two more runs in the sixth on a pair of two-out RBI singles and a final run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly.
Â
Wright State finished the afternoon with seven hits but also drew seven walks, led by Anglin's three-hit afternoon with a double and the two-run triple. Konner Piotto recorded two hits of his own, including a double, while Black and Damon Dues each had one hit. Zane Harris and Hamilton each drew two walks.
Â
Raider starter Daniel Kreuzer took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Â
