LAST TIME OUT
Wright State outscored Northern Kentucky 43-15 on the way to the four-game road sweep in the Raiders' first Horizon League action in nearly a month. The Raiders scored double-digit runs in three of the four wins, driving in 41 RBI as a team, paced by Alec Sayre's 10 RBI. The Raiders collected 48 total hits, with just shy of half of them going for extra bases - tallying 11 doubles, 10 home runs and a triple as five players each had multiple extra base hits. On the mound, Wright State pitchers collected 37 strikeouts, including 11 from starter Bradley Brehmer in game two, while allowing the 15 runs and holding NKU to a .287 team batting average.Â
MASTODON MINUTE
Aaron Chapman has a hit in nine of the Mastodons' last 11 games and is hitting .359 in this stretch. Chapman ranks 89th in the nation among players toughest to strikeout. He has struck out only 11 times this season in 101 at-bats. Alex Evenson is a two-way player who has found considerable success on the mound. He owns a 1.08 ERA in 8.1 innings and five appearances. He has given up only one earned run on the season. Â
RPI SEE YOU
Wright State enters this weekend series with the No. 13 RPI in the nation, settling into that position after being at No. 12 earlier in the week. The 12 teams above the Raiders include five SEC programs and two programs from both the PAC 12 and BIG 12.
RAIDER REPORT
Despite not having played a home game since March 14 due to COVID cancellations from scheduled visiting teams, Wright State's 22 consecutive home wins at Nischwitz Stadium remains the longest active home streak in the country. Fairfield, who is 25-0 this season and has won 20 consecutive home games, has a four-game home series this weekend, its final currently scheduled home games of the season. The Raiders are scheduled to close the regular season with eight home games at The Nisch.
SAYREÂ NAMED HL BATTER OF THE WEEK
Alec Sayre was named the Horizon League Batter of the Week on April 27 after he drove in a team-high 10 RBI as Wright State went on the road last weekend and tallied a four-game sweep at Northern Kentucky in its first Horizon League action in nearly a month. Sayre had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games, including a pair of three-hit games in the first and final games of the weekend, on the way to a .533 average (8-for-15) with a pair of doubles and two home runs while driving in 10 RBI. His 10 RBI over the weekend surpassed his nine total RBI from his first 16 games this season.Â
