Raidergang adds weekend series with Charleston at The Nisch

THE SERIES
Teams: Wright State (29-11, 28-4 HL)
        Charleston (31-8, 24-4 Mountain East)
Location: Nischwitz Stadium / Dayton, OH
The Wright State baseball team has added a three-game weekend series against Charleston this weekend at Nischwitz Stadium. The Raiders were previously scheduled to be off this weekend as the remainder of the Horizon League wraps up regular season play this weekend. Wright State is coming off a four-game series sweep over Oakland to end its Horizon League schedule. The Raiders had already clinched the HL regular season title with a series win over Milwaukee back on May 7-8, and will host the tournament at Nischwitz Stadium next weekend.Â
NCAA Division II member Charleston is 31-8 overall and is coming off of a loss to Alderson Broaddus on May 15 in the Mountain East Tournament and are awaiting an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Championship after sharing the Mountain East's regular season South Division title. Charleston earned 11 All-MEC honors at the end of its regular season, including Logan Campbell earning Pitcher of the Year accolades and Mitchell Vincent being tabbed as the MEC Freshman of the Year.

REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS
With its game one victory on Saturday afternoon over Milwaukee, Wright State clinched the Horizon League regular season championship and the rights to host the 2021 tournament at Nischwitz Stadium later this month. Wright State has now captured the Horizon League regular season title for the third consecutive season (2018, 2019, 2021) and the fourth time in the last five years overall.
ON THE HORIZON
While the Raiders know they are hosting the 2021 Horizon League Championship next weekend, the remainder of the four-team field is still working itself out. Entering this weekend's action UIC (25-16 overall, 24-11 HL) sits in second place in the standings, with Youngstown State (29-21, 21-15 HL) in third and Milwaukee (19-28, 16-20 HL) in fourth. BREHMER NAMED HL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Bradley Brehmer was named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, the League office announced on Tuesday afternoon. Brehmer struck out eight Oakland batters over six innings last Friday night on the way to his seventh win of the season. He allowed two hits, one in the fourth inning and one in the fifth frame, while walking three and not allowing a baserunner beyond second base. Brehmer struck out a pair of batters in the first and fifth innings and struck out the side in the third in his first scoreless start of the season.
