Wright State's match against UIC canceled; Raiders back in action Friday

INDIANAPOLIS – The Wright State volleyball team's matchup against UIC, originally scheduled for Thursday night, has been canceled due to multiple positive COVID-19 cases within UIC's Tier 1 personnel group.

Horizon League policy, vetted by multiple membership groups and approved by the Horizon League Council, states that contests that are canceled due to COVID-19 are to be considered forfeits. League policy also authorizes the Commissioner to deem a cancellation a no-contest when the involved institution can demonstrate that extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of all Tier 1 individuals (student-athletes, coaches and staff) led to the cancellation. In this instance, UIC sought relief from the regulation due to all Tier 1 personnel being vaccinated. The Commissioner granted UIC relief and therefore the matches are considered no-contests and will not be rescheduled.

Wright State's next match is now Friday night at Milwaukee. The Raiders and Panthers are slated to get underway at 7 p.m. ET and the match is expected to be streamed on ESPN+. Wright State is scheduled to end the road trip with a Sunday afternoon meeting at Green Bay.
