Track & Field set for two meets in Indiana

DAYTON — The Wright State track and field program returns to indoor competition with two meets in Indiana. A pair of student-athletes will compete at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., on Friday, January 21. The remainder of the team will participate in the Mastodon Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday, January 22.Â
Shelby Nolan and Abigail Halsey will compete in the 3,000-meter run at the Gladstein Invitational inside the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse. Halsey, who captured the Horizon League Cross Country individual title last fall, will race in the first section of the 3K at 4:20 p.m. Nolan will run in the following heat at 6:35 p.m.Â
The race will feature student-athletes from meet host Indiana, Butler, Dayton, Eastern Illinois, Lipscomb, and Saint Louis. Live results can be found here.Â
Purdue Fort Wayne will host the Mastodon Invitational inside the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse. Field events will get underway at 11 a.m. before running events begin at noon. WSU will compete against three Horizon League programs in Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, and Purdue Fort Wayne, along with Huntington, Quincy, and Valparaiso. The meet schedule can be found here.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders won two events and added 15 top-five marks en route to a second-place finish at the Marshall Classic.
>> Nolan tabbed a first-place finish for the second-straight meet, as she placed first out of 13 competitors in the mile run. Her winning time of 5:00.55 was the second-fastest mile in school history, just shy of her own school record (4:58.49) set last season. Halsey and Emma Shigley finished fourth and fifth overall in the mile with times of 5:15.32 and 5:21.47.
>> Nolan added a runner-up placement in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:22.65. Shigley (2:30.87), Kaitlyn Miller (2:33.12), Halsey (2:34.99), and Bekah Robertson (2:39.16) took third through sixth in the event.
>> Cierra Lively collected her first collegiate win by clearing 5'-02.25 (1.58m) in the high jump. Melissa Siler earned runner-up with a personal-record jump of 5'-00.25 (1.53m), while Amelia Harlow finished third at 4'-10.25 (1.48m).Â
>> In the 60-meter hurdles, Robertson finished fourth (9.98), followed by Siler in fifth (11.55). In the 200-meter dash, Alycea Ruhlen was 10th (30.45), and Emma Carr was 12th (31.11).

After the Mastodon Invite, the Raiders will turn their attention to the Steemer Showcase on Saturday, January 29, in Springfield, Ohio.Â
