DULUTH, GA – The Wright State golf team finished six shots off the pace to grab a fourth place team finish at the Georgia State Invitational in metro Atlanta as
Tyler Goecke finished second individually at six-under to pace the Raiders.
Wright State carded team rounds of 290 and 291 on Monday before finishing with a four-over 292 on Tuesday on the way to the 873 total, six shots back of co-champions Tennessee Tech and James Madison.
Goecke carded back-to-back four-under 68s in his two Monday rounds before a final round two-over 74 on Tuesday. He recorded seven birdies in his first round before four more and an eagle in the second round and a trio of birdies on Tuesday.
Mikkel Mathiesen finished in a tie for 18th at four-over after opening with a one-over 73 and followed that with a two-over 74 on Monday, collecting four total birdies over the 36 holes before a pair of birdies in his final round one-over 73.
Cole Corder and
Shane Ochs were both one shot back at five-over in a tie for 21st. Corder carded rounds of 70 (-2) and 74 (+2) on Monday before a five-over 77 in his final round, while Oches recorded a pair of one-under rounds of 71 Monday before closing with a seven-over 79. Both Corder and Ochs each tallied six birdies for the tournament.
Davis Root finished in a tie for 52nd at nine-over, turning in rounds of 81 (+9), 75 (+3) and 73 (+1), with his tournament highlight coming Tuesday on the par five seventh hole with an eagle.
Adam Horn rounded out the Raider lineup with a 15-over finish to tie for 60th with rounds of 79 (+7), 80 (+8) and 72 (E).
The Raiders will wrap up the fall with two final tournaments closer to home, first playing in the Xavier Invitational October 10 and 11 at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio before the Dayton Flyer Invitational on October 17 and 18 and NCR Country Club.
