
Golf makes short trip south for Xavier Invitational

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team won't have to travel far for tournament action Monday and Tuesday, as the Raiders take part in the Xavier Invitational at TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio.

The course will play as a Par 72, 7,093-yard layout for the three rounds, with the field playing 27 holes each on Monday and Tuesday.

In addition to the Raiders, the tournament also features host Xavier, Villanova, DePaul, Oakland, Northern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay, Bowling Green, Western Kentucky, Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Butler (individuals), Ohio State (individuals), West Virginia (individuals).

Wright State is coming off a fourth-place team finish at the Georgia State Invitational in metro Atlanta last week as Tyler Goecke finished second individually. The Raiders, who won the fall-opening Earl Yestingmeier Invitational and were second in the Golfweek Fall Challenge, have also seen Mikkel Mathiesen take home the individual title at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational and both Goecke (second) and Mathiesen (tied-ninth) were in the top 10 individually at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.

Following the Xavier Invitational, the Raiders will wrap up the fall with the Dayton Flyer Invitational on October 17 and 18 and NCR Country Club.
