Track & Field hits the road for two meets

DAYTON — The Wright State track and field program returns to indoor competition with two meets. A pair of student-athletes will compete at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich., on Friday, February 11. The remainder of the team will participate in the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W. Va, from February 11-12.Â
Shelby Nolan and Abigail Halsey will compete in the 5,000-meter run at the GVSU Big Meet, which will feature over 159 teams. Halsey is set to race at noon, followed by Nolan at 5:45 p.m. Both individuals enter the race with top-10 times in school history in the event.Â

Marshall will host its two-day invitational inside the Chris Cline Athletic Complex. Friday's field events will commence at 6:30 p.m., followed by running events at 7:45 p.m. The second and final day of competition will start at 10:30 a.m. with the women's long jump.Â

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Raiders competed at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open hosted by Ashland.Â
 >> Nolan headlined WSU by placing third in the mile run with a school-record time of 4:54.21. The mark broke her own school record in the event, which she most recently surpassed last weekend at the Steemer Showcase (1/29), crossing the finish line at 4:55.29. Halsey posted a 17th-place finish in the mile (5:14.19), while Kaitlyn Miller was 24th at 5:21.57.
 >> WSU also had a strong showing in the 3,000-meter run, paced by Emma Shigley in 12th at 10:14.92. Emma Johnson and Miller also ran in the event, finishing with times of 11:29.53 and 11:29.68.
 >> The Raiders were once again led by Cierra Lively and Amelia Harlow in the high jump. Lively tied for seventh place with a best clearance of 1.55 meters, while Harlow was 18th at 1.45 meters.Â
 >> A trio of individuals competed in the same heat of the 400-meter dash. Alicia Neumeier placed second in the heat with a time of 1:01.94, followed by Alycea Ruhlen in third (1:03.61) and Emma Carr in fifth (1:07.24).Â
 >> Bekah Robertson was fourth in her heat of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.63 and finished the 800-meter run at 2:33.13. The West Chester, Ohio native cleared 4.42 meters in the long jump and 1.40 meters in the high jump.
 >> Siler was 14th overall in the long jump (4.73m), 25th in the high jump (1.40m), and ran the 800-meter run in 2:47.23.Â
 >> Tatiana Brown tied for 25th with Robertson and Siler in the high jump with a clearance of 1.40 meters. She finished 27th in the long jump (4.27m).Â
 >> The quartet of Robertson, Ruhlen, Carr and Neumeier closed the meet with a time of 4:31.06 in the 4x400 relay.
RUNNER OF THE WEEK
After setting a school record and adding a first-place finish at the Steemer Showcase, Nolan captured Horizon League Runner of the Week for the second time in her career as a Raider. She ran a winning time of 2:57.50 in the 1,000-meter run, becoming the first Raider in school history to break three minutes in the events. The Whitehouse, Ohio native placed second in the mile at 4:55.29, surpassing her previous record mark of 4:58.49 set last season. Nolan last earned the distinction in March 2021 after turning in three top-five finishes at the Blizzard Buster.
