T&F defends DMR title on day one at HL Indoor Championship

The Wright State women's track and field team sit sixth with 14 points after day one at the Horizon League Indoor Championship in Youngstown, Ohio.Â
WSU defended its conference title in the distance medley relay, as the quartet of Kaitlyn Miller, Alicia Neumeier, Alycea Ruhlen, and Emma Shigley placed first with a school-record time of 12:17.85.Â
Abigail Halsey earned vital points for the Raiders by taking fifth out of 15 competitors in the 5,000-meter run at 17:34.41.Â
Shelby Nolan was seventh in the 800-meter run prelims, crossing the finish line at 2:26.24. She was one of eight runners to qualify for tomorrow's finals in the event. Neumeier finished 22nd in the prelims at 2:35.92.Â
Bekah Robertson led the Raiders in the pentathlon with a ninth-place finish. She moved to sixth in the Raider top-10 list with the performance. The West Chester, Ohio native earned fourth in the 800-meter run with a personal-record time of 2:31.16. She was seventh in the high jump (1.50m) and added eighth-place marks in the long jump (4.85m) and 60-meter hurdles (9.73).
Siler earned 10th overall in the pentathlon, good for seventh in the Raider top-10 list. The sophomore finished fourth in the high jump with a PR clearance of 1.56 meters. Siler was seventh in the shot put with a best toss of 9.76 meters and tallied ninth in the long jump (4.79m) and 800-meter run (2:41.58).Â
Tatiana Brown rounded out Raiders in the pentathlon, as she placed 13th overall. Her top finish of the day came in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:59.93.Â
Emma Carr led Wright State in the 400-meter dash by placing 18th with a time of 1:05.85. Kira Ball was 20th overall at 1:13.77. The two runners also took part in the 200-meter dash, finishing with times of 29.63 and 31.62.
The Raiders will conclude the championship meet tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m. inside the Watson and Tressel Training Site.Â
