Men's Basketball closes non-conference schedule with Friday matinee

DAYTON - The Wright State men's basketball team closes its non-conference slate with a Friday afternoon 1 p.m. matinee against Muskingum inside the Nutter Center. Friday's game also wraps up a four-game homestand and sends the Raiders into the holiday break. Fans can follow the action several ways - via live stats, by watching on ESPN+ or by tuning in to the new home for Raider Basketball 101.5 HANK FM and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Justin Kinner will have all the play-by-play on the both the ESPN and radio feeds.
Fans can tune into 101.5 HANK FM live over the air in the Dayton metro area, as well stream the station live nationwide through a variety of free streaming apps. The iHeartRadio app, the TuneIn Radio app and the Audacy app are all FREE and each carry 101.5 HANK FM. Just search "101.5 HANK FM" on any of the three apps for Raider Basketball.Â
**Wright State has launched the Wright State Raiders app, allowing fans to stay up to date on Raider Basketball and all other sports. Fans are encouraged to use the Wright State Raiders app as the primary method for managing their digital tickets, which are required for entry to all WSU basketball events. Tickets for the 2023-24 basketball seasons are now uploaded and accessible on all purchaser accounts. A night of runs for Wright State saw the Raiders tally a 92-82 Tuesday night victory over regional foe Miami (OH) inside the Nutter Center. Wright State shot a season-best 66.7 percent from the floor and used an early 15-2 scoring run in the first half to set the tone for the night. Tanner Holden finished with a game- and season-high 27 points, including 16 in the first half, while Noel tallied his second double-double of the season with a 25-point, 12-rebound effort. Alex Huibregtse added a season-high 17 points and Trey Calvin notched 11 points while adding four assists and three steals.
FIRST TIME MEETING
Wright State and Muskingum meet Friday for the first time in program history, marking the fourth Raider first-time opponent for this season. The Raiders also had first meetings with Colorado State, Louisiana and Bethel this season.
WEEKDAY DAYTIME?
Friday's 1 p.m. tipoff time is the first midweek afternoon tipoff in Wright State program history. It's the earliest tip for the Raiders this season, two hours earlier than the 3 p.m. start at Davidson, and the first 1 p.m. game for Wright State since a Saturday, February 25 1 p.m. start at Detroit Mercy closed the regular season last year. Ironically, the Raiders will play a second-straight early game in their next contest, tipping off at noon local time at Green Bay next Friday, December 29. The last Wright State tipoffs before 1 p.m. were back-to-back noon starts at the Naples Invitational in November 2021 (James Madison, Long Beach St.). The last Raider home game tipping before 1 p.m. was Saturday, February 19, 2011, an 11 a.m. start against Hofsra in a Bracketbuster game, while the Raiders also hosted Akron with an 11 a.m. tip on Saturday, November 23, 2002.
FIGHTING MUSKIES
- Muskingum is currently 4-7 on the season under second year head coach Nathan Wahle, whose resume includes five years as an assistant at Wittenberg.Â
- Duane Davis (12.6 ppg) and Zaveon Croff(10.7 ppg) both average double-digits scoring, while Logan Stotzer (9.9 ppg) and Kaelan Pulliam (9.6 ppg) are also right at double figures.Â
- Croff's 7.3 rebounds/game leads the team, while Davis (6.6 rebounds/game) is second on the squad.Â
STRONG SHOOTING
Wright State shot 66.7 percent in the Dec. 19 in the win over Miami (OH), connecting on 38-of-57 shots. The win marked the second time the Raiders have shot over 60 percent this season (61.2 percent against IUPUI) and is the team's highest shooting percentage since connecting at 71.4 percent last season at Green Bay (Jan. 12, 2023). The Raiders also had a 74.1 percent shooting effort against Defiance (Nov. 17, 2022), along with two other games with over 60 percent shooting last year. Wright State has shot 50 percent or higher in seven games to date.

Three regular rotation players are connecting at over 50.0 percent from the floor, led by AJ Braun's 66.7 percent, with Drey Carter (60.5) and Andrew Welage (52.3) also in the mix. Trey Calvin (49.7 percent) and Tanner Holden (49.5 percent) are right on the shooting pace as well.
HOLDEN IT DOWN
Tanner Holden has tallied double figures scoring in nine of 11 games in his Raider return, notching his third 20-plus point game of the year with a season-best 27 points in the Dec. 19 win over Miami (OH). Holden's current 15.9 points/game average is the second-best of his career behind only his 20.1 points/game average in 2021-22.

Brandon Noel notched his second double-double of the season in the Dec. 19 win over Miami (OH) with 25 points and 12 rebounds, both season-highs. Noel finished with 11 double-doubles a season ago, including nine double-doubles after the calendar flipped to January.
SCORING THE ROCK
Trey Calvin finished with 11 points in the Dec. 19 win over Miami (OH) and has scored in double digits in every game in 2023-24 and 13 straight contests going back to last season. Calvin has been held to less than 10 points only five times since scoring 18 points on Feb. 26, 2022 and has only 11 total single-digit scoring games since the start of 2021-22. Calvin has 31 performances of 20-plus points in the same time span.
