
Golf tees off spring slate in Texas

LAREDO, TX – The Wright State golf team tees off its spring 2023 schedule Monday morning at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club. Action will begin with 8 a.m. CT shotgun starts on both Monday and Tuesday.

Teams will play 36 holes Monday with the final round coming Tuesday morning at Laredo Country Club , which will play as a 7,375-yard, par-72 layout.

The Raiders will compete in a 17-team field against Baylor, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, Houston Baptist, Illinois State, Lamar, Lipscomb, Louisiana Tech, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, New Mexico State, Rice, Sam Houston State, ULM, Western Carolina and host Houston.

The Raiders begin the spring schedule after being voted as the top team in the Horizon League preseason poll for the fourth straight season.

Wright State finished the fall with team victories at Earl Yestingmeier Invitational in September and the Xavier Invitational in mid-October, while also finishing second at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and fourth at the Georgia State Invitational. Mikkel Mathiesen won the individual title at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational while Tyler Goecke captured top individual honors at the Xavier Invitational.
