
Raiders trek to Arizona for Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, AZ – The Wright State golf team heads west for the Loyola Intercollegiate in Arizona, with the three-day tournament getting underway with 9:45 a.m. ET shotgun starts each morning.

Teams will play 18 holes daily at Palm Valley Golf Club, with its North/South Course playing 7,015 yards as a par 72 with a 130 slope and a course rating of 73.

The Raiders will compete in a 20-team field against Ball State, Bucknell, Delaware, Drake, Eastern Michigan, George Mason, Howard, Idaho, Marshall, Marquette, Missouri State, Northern Colorado, Seton Hall, South Dakota, Southern Illinois, SIU Edwardsville, St. John's, Utah Valley and host Loyola Maryland.

Davis Root finished tied for third individually at two-under to pace Wright State in its spring-opening tournament two weeks ago as the Raiders finished sixth as a group at the Border Olympics in Texas. Following his play, Root was rewarded as the first Horizon League Golfer of the Week two days later.

Wright State finished the fall with team victories at Earl Yestingmeier Invitational in September and the Xavier Invitational in mid-October, while also finishing second at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and fourth at the Georgia State Invitational. Mikkel Mathiesen won the individual title at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational while Tyler Goecke captured top individual honors at the Xavier Invitational.
