Raiders hosting Wright State Invitational at Heatherwoode Golf Club

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team is set for its final regular season action of the spring as the Raiders host the Wright State Invitational at Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro. Action gets underway Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with 36 holes before the final 18 holes on Monday.

The Raiders return to their home course and tournament as defending champions, winning last season's shorted Wright State Invitational after battling through wet and snowy conditions that ultimately canceled the final round. Davis Root is the defending individual champion, while three others – Mikkel Mathiesen, Andrew Flynn and former Raider Bryce Haney – finished inside the top 10 individually as well.

A trio of Wright State golfers competed as individuals at the Ohio Dominican Bill Blazer Memorial last weekend, with Shane Ochs taking home top individual medalist honors with his four-under final score after he birdied his final hole to capture the title. Lat time out as a full group, Wright State recorded a second-place team finish at the Seahawk Intercollegiate at the end of March as Mathiesen, Flynn andTyler Goecke each finished inside the top 10 individually.

Following the Wright State Invitational, the Raiders will head south for the Horizon League Championship April 23-25 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida as they look to defend last season's team title, while Mathiesen will try for his second-straight individual title as well.
