
Raiders ready to tee off Horizon League Championship

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team will begin its title defense and quest for an eighth Horizon League Championship in program history on Sunday at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, as the Raiders look for their fourth team title of the season.

Action gets underway at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning with 18 holes, as the Raiders will tee off beginning at 8:20 a.m. through 9 a.m., all starting on the first hole. The tournament field will play the second round on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.

The grouping of Mikkel Mathiesen, Tyler Goecke, Cole Corder, Andrew Flynn and Davis Root will tee off for Wright State.

In addition to Wright State looking to defend its team title, Mathiesen will try for his second-straight individual title as well. His final round 65 last spring set the mark for lowest round in Horizon League Championship history, while his three-round score of 203 set a new Horizon League record for lowest 54-hole individual score.

The Raiders have tallied three team tournament wins in 10 total events spanning the fall and spring schedule, adding three second place finishes as they were sixth or better in all 10 events. Individually, Mathiesen has tallied three wins and Goecke has an individual title as well.

The El Campeon Course at the Mission Hills Resort & Club will play as a par 72, 6,765 yard course this week for the Horizon League Championship.
