Raiders continue #HLBASE play at Milwaukee

DAYTON — The Wright State baseball program faces a three-game road series against Milwaukee from April 6-8 at Franklin Field. The Horizon League series will broadcast live on ESPN+, while live stats will also be available.

LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders rallied back for a 7-6 victory over Cincinnati in Tuesday's opening round of the Joe Nuxhall Classic. Wright State trailed 5-3 but scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead. The Bearcats closed their deficit to 7-6 in the top of the eighth but went down in order in the ninth to seal the Raider win.
Sammy Sass paced the Wright State offense by going 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in and a run scored. Luke Arnold batted 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk, while Andrew Patrick tallied a team-leading three hits and two runs. Starting pitcher Josh Laisure struck out a career-high seven batters while allowing two runs in four innings of work. Joey Valentine earned his third save of the season as he held Cincinnati scoreless with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings of action.

Wright State leads the all-time series 76-62. The Raiders went 3-2 against MKE in 2022, capped off by back-to-back wins on the road to conclude the regular season.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee is 10-14 overall and 2-6 against conference opponents under the guidance of 17th-year head coach Scott Doffek. The Panthers were swept at Northern Kentucky and have followed with a doubleheader split versus Youngstown State and a series loss at Oakland.
Aaron Chapman has been Milwaukee's top offensive threat, as he is batting .354 with six doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. The Panthers are 34-for-39 on stolen base attempts, led by Luke Seidel with 12 steals. On the mound, reigning Horizon League Pitcher of the Week Riley Frey has gone 3-3 with a 3.76 ERA in 40.2 innings. He tossed a five-hit shutout versus Wright State last season.
