ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Wright State men's and women's track and field program continued its outdoor season at the Golden Grizzly Invitational hosted by Oakland on Saturday.
The Raiders combined for 13 top-10 finishes, including two runner-up marks and one individual win.
Cierra Lively headlined Wright State in the meet by taking first overall in the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.60 meters.
Tatiana Brown finished 11th (1.50m) in the event, while
Melissa Siler and
Amelia Harlow tied for 20th at 1.45 meters.
Alicia Neumeier earned second out of 53 competitors in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:30.73. The mark was a personal record and sixth in the Raider top-10 list. She was followed by
Emma Johnson in ninth (18:06.68),
Emma Shigley in 19th (18:43.50), and
Brooklyn Salyers in 46th (21:35.38) in the event.
Kaitlyn Miller raced to second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:13.83. The personal record mark moved her to sixth on the Raider top-10 list in the event.
Mia Wyngarden crossed the finish line in 59.07 seconds in the 400-meter dash, good for third overall and eighth on the Raider top-10 list.
Kylee Thomas cracked the Raider top-10 list in the 400-meter hurdles after placing seventh with a time of 1:07.43.
Wright State had three competitors compete in the javelin, led by Brown in the ninth with a top throw of 28.74 meters.
Melissa Siler took 11th (28.15m), while
Bekah Robertson was 27th (16.76) in the event. Robertson also participated in the 100-meter hurdle prelims, earning 15th overall in 15.61 seconds.
Callista Hess notched a top-10 finish in the triple jump, as she place 10th with a clearance 10.02 meters in the event. Brown was close behind in 11th (9.99m).
The duo of
Anna Johnson (57th, 5:20.45) and
Brooklyn Salyers (67th, 5:40.73) raced in the 1,500-meter run, while
Briana Morrisette (41st, 13.68) took part in the 100-meter dash prelims. Brown (19th, 4.86m), Morrisette (24th, 4.68m), Hess (28th, 4.49m), and Harlow (31st, 4.16m) were among 32 competitors in the high jump.
The Raider women concluded the day with an eighth-place finish (4:20.74) in the 4x400 meter relay.
Alex McCarty highlighted the men's team with a fourth-place finish out of 84 competitors in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:44.66.
Max Pettit (13th, 15:02.35),
Jacob Poling (14th, 15:05.33),
Ryan Cooper (41st, 15:38.15), and
Alan Fullenkamp (60th, 16:12.28) also had strong marks in the race.
Wright State had another top-five finish in the 4x400 meter relay, as the quartet of
Mohamed Bilal,
Michael Cole,
Patrick Statzer, and
Ian Johnson finished with a time of 3:33.26.
Bilal added a top-10 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, placing sixth overall with a time of 58.32.
The Raider men had four competitors race in the 800-meter run, led by
Ian Johnson in ninth with a time of 1:54.58. He was followed by
Patrick Statzer (24th, 1:59.76),
Michael Cole (30th, 2:01.55), and
John Steimle (39th, 2:06.44) in the event.
Ethan Neblock moved to third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Raider top-10 list after placing 11th with a time of 10:08.36.
Andy Neff was the lone Raider to compete in the long jump, placing 24th with a clearance of 5.64 meters.
The trio of
Nathan Childs (55th, 4:25.37),
Nathan Sheriff (73rd, 4:50.48), and
Jacob Wellman (75th, 4:59.78) represented Wright State in the 1,500-meter run. Maxwell Bacon finished 36th (12.53) in the 100-meter dash and 44th (25.70) in the 200-meter dash.
Wright State will return to action at the Cherry Blossom Invitational on Saturday, April 15. A small contingent of runners will compete at the Bison Outdoor Classic from April 14-16.
