Chloe Chard Peloquin tallied a career best of five blocks in a 67-56 loss to Detroit Mercy Wednesday evening. The Raiders will stay in Michigan, taking on Oakland on Friday. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff and will stream on ESPN+.
Wright State (2-6, 0-1 HL) ended the night shooting 37.3 percent overall from the floor.
Amaya Staton led the team in scoring with 15 points on the night, going six-of-eight overall and shooting 75 percent on the line. Joining in the double-figure scoring was
Macie Taylor with 13 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor.
Makiya Miller and
Claire Henson combined for 14 points – seven each – as Henson led the team with nine rebounds. Staton closely trailed, grabbing eight off the backboard.
Wright State ended the night with nine blocks, a season high, as for the fourth consecutive game, Staton tallied two blocks on the night.
The Raiders held an early 18-13 lead after the first quarter but were halted by the Titan's defense in the second, going four minutes without a bucket as the Titans gained a 22-20 advantage with under five left. With just over three minutes left in the quarter, Taylor tied the game at 22. UDM held a 25-24 lead with two minutes on the clock, but
Lauren Scott powered in the paint, giving the Raiders a one-point advantage at the half, 26-25.
The Titans came back from the halftime strong, putting up 23 points in the third quarter while holding Wright State to just five field goals and one free throw. Staton led the Raiders in the second half, adding 11 points and eight rebounds. The Raiders fought in the final quarter, going on a 12-0 run after a timeout with nine minutes left, but were unable to outscore the Titans, ending the night 67-56.
Detroit Mercy (5-1, 1-0 HL) ended the night shooting 35.5 percent overall, going 5-of-15 beyond the arc, and shooting 72 percent on the line. They were led by three players tallying 18 points – Emaia O'Brien, Makayla Jackson, and Aaliyah McQueen. McQueen led the Titans in rebounds alongside Kailey Starks, each grabbing seven.
