
Raiders take series finale at Memphis

Scoring runs in all but two innings, Wright State finished the day with 17 runs on 17 hits with ten walks, against their eight strikeouts. Sammy Sass led the Raiders, with four hits in his six at bats, followed by Patrick Fultz, with three hits. Drew Baker and Carson Clark each had two hits on the day, while Luke Arnold, Julian Greenwell, Gus Gregory, Jay Luikart, Boston Smith, and Ben Vore each had one hit. Sass had three doubles in the game, while Fultz had one double and a home run. Luikart and Smith also sent it over the wall. Of the ten Raider walks, three were picked up by Clark, with Gregory, Fultz, and Vore each having two, and Baker with one.

Wright State took an early lead, putting up six runs in the second, beginning as the bases loaded off singles by Baker and Clark and Fultz being walked. Baker reached home on a single by Arnold, leaving the bases loaded. Vore was walked, allowing Clark to earn the second Raider run. A single by Greenwell pushed Fultz to home plate before, before Sass recorded his second double of the day, clearing the bases and bringing the score to 6-0. The Raider pitching staff allowed only one Tiger run in the bottom of the second.

The Raider lead continued, with a 2 RBI home run by Vore in the third, and Sass stealing home on a throwing error in the fourth, 9-1. Memphis returned, adding a single run in the fourth, but was unable to hold off the Wright State lineup, as the Raiders added put two more on the board with a double by Fultz and a sacrifice fly by Vore, 11-2. Luikart sent it over the wall in the sixth, bringing the Raider advantage to double-digits, 12-2.

Memphis closed the gap in the bottom of the sixth, adding two runs on a double and another on a single. Wright State answered with a two RBI homer by Smith, raising the lead, 14-5. After the Tigers gave two runs, Wright State was able to regain their ten-run lead in the eighth, answering with a two RBI single by Fultz, and Gregory being walked for Clark to score, ending the game 17-7.

Earning the afternoon win was Chet Lax (1-0), after he entered in the fourth to prevent two Tiger runs. Lax finished the day allowing three runs on four hits with no walks and two strikeouts in his two and a third innings on the mound. Starting for the Raiders was Josh Laisure, pitching three and two third innings, allowing two runs on five hits with six walks and two walks.

Taking the loss for the Tigers was starting pitcher Caden Robinson (1-1), after allowing eight runs on seven hits, with three walks and four strikeouts in his two and two third innings of work. Memphis finished with seven runs of 14 hits, with seven walks against their seven strikeouts. Duante Stuart led the team with two hits, both doubles, in his four at-bats.
