Wright State is coming off a series sweep over Oakland, defeating the Golden Grizzlies 3-2, 13-3, and 17-10.
The Raiders tallied 33 runs on 33 hits, along with 25 walks and 21 strikeouts.
JP Peltier led the team with a .533 batting average, tallying eight hits—two homers, a double—and seven RBI. Peltier opened Horizon League scoring with a two-run homer, later hitting the game-winning walk-off homer in the series opener.
Hunter Warren followed, adding five hits, while
Conlan Daniel put up four hits over the series, including a double and two homers.
Patrick Fultz put up a team-best seven walks, while
Boston Smith went three-of-three on stolen bases.
Wright State's pitching staff allowed 15 runs (10 earned) on 21 hits, with 11 walks and 27 strikeouts. Starters
Cam Allen,
Mychal Grogan, and
Jarrett Heilman did not allow any earned runs. Grogan led the team with seven strikeouts, allowing no hits over five innings, including five consecutive strikeouts against the Golden Grizzlies.
SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
Toledo is currently 6-12 on the season, going 2-4 in MAC play. Most recently, the Rockets went 1-2 at Ball State, falling 12-2 and 8-7 before winning game three, 6-3.
As a team, Toledo is batting .223 this season, led by Cole Cahill's .304 average. Toledo has 10 doubles on the season, four triples, and six home runs. JP Wagner ranks No. 19 nationally in toughest to strike out, averaging one strikeout per 17.3 at-bats. The Rockets sit No. 18 nationally with a .981 fielding percentage.
Toledo's pitching staff has a team ERA of 6.24. They have 124 total strikeouts, led by Logan Jones with 20 on the season and a 2.76 ERA. Jones has appeared in six games for the Rockets, pitching 16.1 innings while allowing five earned runs on 14 hits. Braden Curry has a team-best 2.57 ERA, making six appearances, all from the bullpen, putting in 14.0 innings on the mound. Curry has allowed four runs on 11 hits with seven walks and 18 strikeouts.
HISTORY VS. TOLEDO
Wright State leads the all-time series against Toledo, 22-10. Last season, the Raiders took Toledo both at home and on the road, first winning 22-9 in Dayton, then 8-0 in Toledo. The Rockets last came out on top in April, 2016, winning 9-3 in Nischwitz Stadium.
STARTING OFF STRONG
Wright State opened Horizon League play with a 3-2 win over Oakland, thanks to a walk-off homer by
JP Peltier.
The series opener remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Peltier jumped on the first pitch, launching a 376-foot homer over the left-field wall to give WSU a 2-0 lead. Oakland responded with an RBI single in the seventh and tied the game at two with an RBI double in the ninth. Leading off the bottom of the ninth, Peltier delivered once again, crushing a walk-off home run to secure the 3-2 victory.

HEAD COACH – ALEX SOGARD
Leading the charge for Wright State is head coach
Alex Sogard, who has built a powerhouse program during his tenure. After leading the Raiders to a 32-24 overall record, earning their sixth HL Regular Season title, Sogard earned his fourth Horizon League Coach of the Year honor in 2024, becoming the first to do so in program history.
His Coach of the Year awards are not the only accomplishment Sogard achieved at WSU. In 2019, Sogard took the Raiders to a 42-17 record, tallying the most wins by a first-year head coach in program history. Sogard led the Raiders to three consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, 2021-2023, being named the 2021 ABCA/ATEC East Coach of the Year. In June 2021, Sogard was named to the 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team coaching staff.
