Golf heads to North Carolina coast for action

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team participates in the Seahawk Intercollegiate beginning Monday morning at Cape Fear Country Club outside of Wilmington, North Carolina. The two-day tournament will get underway daily with 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts both mornings.

The Raiders return to the tournament for the fifth-straight season, with their best finish as a group coming in March 2021 when they finished second, while former Raider Tyler Goecke captured the individual title in the 2022 tournament.

The 54-hole tournament will be contested at Cape Fear Country Club, designed by Donald Ross, and will play as a 6,953-yard Par 71 layout. The 15-team field will open play with 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday in the final round.

In addition to the Raiders, the field features: Davidson, No. 17 Duke, Florida Atlantic, High Point, Jacksonville, James Madison, No. 8 North Carolina, Stetson, Toledo, USC Upstate, VCU and tournament host UNC Wilmington.

Wright State most recently was in action March 13-15 at the Peoples Golf Championship, finishing tied for sixth as a group with Adam Horn and Brock Rumpke leading the individually as both finished tied for 16th.

Teeing it up for Wright State in North Carolina will be Andrew Flynn, Shane Ochs, Adam Horn, Brock Rumpke and Ali Berker.
