Raiders Take Series with Seven-Inning Shutout Over Milwaukee

DAYTON – The Wright State baseball team secured the series win over Milwaukee in seven innings via a 10-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon.

Wright State held an early advantage, putting five runs on the board in the first three innings. After Hunter Warren doubled, the Raiders opened scoring as Patrick Fultz laid down a bunt single and moved to second on a misplay, with Warren scoring on the play. Gus Gregory followed with a double down the left field line, driving in Fultz.

WSU tacked on three more in the third, as Gregory, who initially reached on a single, scored on a sacrifice fly by Blomquist after advancing twice on passed balls. JP Peltier drew a walk, stealing second before Nate Manley was walked. With Luke Arnold at the plate, Manley and Peltier both advanced on stolen bases before Manley moved to third and Peltier scored on a catcher throwing error. Cam Gilkerson put a single into center field to drive in Manley.

In similar fashion to the third inning, Peltier was walked to open the fifth, stealing second before Manley was walked and both moved into scoring position on stolen bases. Peltier was driven in on a Gilkerson single down the left field line to make it 6-0.

Wright State capped scoring with a four-run sixth, beginning with a Gregory triple down the right field line, allowing Warren and Fultz to score. Peltier was walked, moving to second as Braylen Blomquist singled to center, driving in Gregory. Peltier tallied his fifth steal of the day as both runners moved into scoring position on stolen bases. The tenth Raider run came as Arnold put a sacrifice fly into right field.

Garrett Peters, now 4-0 on the season, made his first career start, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings. Peters struck out six batters and allowed just one hit, a single in the top of the third.
