Golf makes short trip for action at The Jewell

DAYTON – The Wright State golf team participates in The Jewell beginning Monday in Batavia, OH at the Elks Run Golf Course. Due to the weather and course conditions, the tournament has been shortened to 36 holes in total with one round each day. The Raiders will get underway on Monday at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start before a tentative 10 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.

The Raiders return to The Jewell after capturing the team title last season with a six-under overall team score as they ran away from the field. Former Raider Mikkel Mathiesen brought home the individual title as four Raiders finished inside the Top 15 individually as Andrew Flynn finished in a tie for fourth, Shane Ochs was tied for 11th and Adam Horn finished 14th.
A tune up to the Horizon League Championship at the end of the month, the field features eight Horizon League teams competing. In addition to the Raiders, the field features: Bellarmine, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IU Indianapolis, Mercyhurst, Miami (OH), Northern Kentucky, Robert Morris, Toledo, Xavier and Youngstown State.

Teeing it up for Wright State will be Andrew Flynn, Shane Ochs, Brock Rumpke, Timmy Hollenbeck and Adam Horn, while Ali Berker and Ian Asch will also be competing as individuals.

Following this weekend's action, the Raiders will host the Wright State Invitational April 13 and 14 at Heatherwoode Golf Club before the Horizon League Championship the following week in Florida.
