Boston Smith has been named to the D1 Baseball Second Team All-America, marking his third All-American honor of the 2025 season. The senior catcher was previously selected to the ABCA/Rawlings Second Team and Perfect Game Second Team.
Selections for the D1 Baseball All-America teams were made by the publication's editors and national writers, evaluating statistical performance, league strength, defensive value, and postseason impact.
Smith becomes just the third player in Wright State program history to earn three All-America honors in a single season. In 2021, under current head coach Alex Sogard, outfielder Quincy Hamilton and second baseman Tyler Black—both now playing in Triple-A—earned First Team honors from both ABCA and D1 Baseball. Hamilton also received recognition from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, while Black was honored by Perfect Game.
"What an incredible honor for Boston to be named an All-American," said Sogard. "There is no doubt he was one of the best catchers in the country so it's great to see him get the recognition he earned."
Smith wrapped up his final collegiate campaign with a .330 batting average, 70 RBI, and 69 hits, while setting a Wright State and Horizon League single-season record with 26 home runs—a mark tied for the most in the nation. Nationally, he ranked second in home runs per game (0.44), seventh in slugging percentage (.770), and 10th in walks (57). He also recorded 10 doubles and two triples.
In addition to his All-American honors, Smith was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region First Team, NCAA Nashville Regional All-Tournament Team, Horizon League All-Tournament Team, and the All-Horizon League First Team. He was also recognized as the NCBWA Dick Howser Trophy Hitter of the Month for May and earned Horizon League Batter of the Week honors twice (Feb. 18 and May 13).
