Women’s Basketball Remains on the Road at IU Indy Sunday

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team (6-11, 2-4 HL) will remain on the road on Sunday, January 11, traveling over to Indianapolis for a Horizon League matchup with the IU Indy Jaguars. Tipoff in the Jungles is scheduled for 1 p.m.

IU Indy enters Sunday with a 5-10 record on the season and a 1-5 mark in Horizon League play. The Jaguars are coming off back-to-back road losses at Northern Kentucky and Purdue Fort Wayne. IU Indy boasts a 5-3 record in the Jungle, highlighted by wins over Indiana State, Bradley, Anderson, IU Columbus, and Milwaukee.
IU Indy sports a stout defense, leading the Horizon League in steals and turnovers. The Jaguars strip the ball 11.8 times per game, forcing 22.1 turnovers per game.
Junior Nevaeh Foster leads the IU Indy offense, scoring 12.3 points per game on 39.2% shooting. Ball State transfer Hailey Smith leads the Jaguars in the paint, snagging a team-high 6.2 rebounds, followed by Foster with 4.4 rebounds.
HISTORY VS. IU INDY
Sunday's game will mark the 26th all-time meeting between Wright State and IU Indy, a series the Raiders lead 15-10. IU Indy swept the series a season ago, defeating Wright State 75-63 at the Jungle and 80-68 in the Nutter Center.
LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders fell to Cleveland State 75-87 Wednesday night despite four Raiders finishing with double-digit points.
Breezie Williams led all players with 20 points, her third straight 20+ point performance and fifth overall. Williams also led the Raiders with four rebounds and five assists. Ellie Magestro-Kennedy finished with a career high 18 points, tying career highs in shots made and three pointers made with six and four, respectively. Wright State also got 14 apiece from Claire Henson and Lauren Scott.
The Raiders started the game out cold, starting the game 0-8 from the floor, and remained scoreless through the first six minutes of play. They then rattled off 10 points in the remaining three and a half minutes, thanks to a pair of threes from Magestro-Kennedy to cut the Cleveland State lead to six entering the second quarter.
The two teams exchanged buckets in the second quarter, with the Raiders outscoring the Vikings by two to trail by seven entering the halftime locker room.
Wright State came out swinging in the second half, going on a 10-4 run to start the third quarter and cut the Cleveland State lead down to one with 7:17 left in the quarter. The Viking would respond right back with a 13-4 run of their own to expand their lead back out to 10, and they never looked back. Cleveland State got the lead as big as 20 points after the Raiders cut it down to six, but they never relinquished the lead to lead the game wire-to-wire.
Izabella Zingaro led the Vikings with 19 points on 58% shooting. Cleveland State also got double-digit scoring outings from Jada Leonard and Macey Fegan, who each scored 16 points. The Viking shot an impressive 50% from the floor and 37% from three.
HORIZON LEAGUE RANKS
The Raiders are fourth in the league with 1,157 points and 68.1 points per game. The Raiders are getting it done from beyond the three-point line, shooting 31.9% and knocking down a league high 7.8 three-pointers per game, ahead of Purdue Fort Wayne with 7.5 per game.

The Wright State offense has been taking care of the ball this season, averaging 13.2 turnovers per game, which is 31st in the nation and in the Horizon League. The Raiders also boast a 3.06 turnover margin, which ranks third in the Horizon League.
BREEZIE LIKE A SUNDAY MORNING
Senior guard Breezie Williams has made an immediate impact for the Raiders, averaging 13 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game across her first 17 games in a Raider uniform. The Canton, Ohio, native is shooting 40.8% from the floor and 31.3% from three-point range. The senior is also getting it done on the defensive end of the floor, averaging 2.3 steals per game. Williams is sixth in the Horizon League in points per game (13) and third in steals per game (2.3). The Bryant transfer had a breakout performance on the road at Tennessee State, dropping a new career-high 27 points with three assists, three rebounds, and two blocks. She followed up her career night in Nashville with a 20-point performance against Wilberforce in just 14 minutes of action. Williams also finished one rebound and one steal short of a triple-double at Florida Atlantic, finishing with a career-high nine steals and a season-high nine rebounds. The senior has turned in five 20+ point performances this season, including the three games in a row. Williams currently sits at 981 career points, just 19 shy of passing the 1,000-career point mark.

Redshirt sophomore Abbie Riddle has emerged as a key contributor for the Raiders in conference play, starting the last six games against Canisius, Youngstown State, Kentucky, Green Bay, Detroit Mercy, and Cleveland State. Riddle turned in three straight double-digit scoring outings against Kentucky, Green Bay, and Detroit Mercy. The Baltimore, Ohio native scored 10 points in just eight minutes on December 19 at Kentucky, shooting 4-5 from the floor and a perfect 2-2 from behind the arc. She followed up her performance in Lexington with a career night in the Nutter Center on December 29, scoring 15 points on 6-9 shooting and knocking down a pair of three-pointers. She followed up her career night with 14 points against Detroit Mercy on January 2.
RYLEE FROM RANGE
Redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Sagester is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League but is one of the best in the country. The Alexandria, Ohio native is shooting a stellar 39.3% from beyond the arc, which is a team best. Sagester's 33 three-pointers sit her at third in the Horizon League standings above Youngstown State's Casey Santoro. Sagester has made more than one three-pointer in nine of the Raiders' 17 games, highlighted by a pair of games with five made threes against Wilberforce and Bellarmine.
CLAIRE CRASHING THE BOARDS
Claire Henson has been active in the paint for the Raiders, snagging 113 rebounds so far this season. Henson is fourth in the Horizon League with 6.6 rebounds per game. The senior grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds against Ohio on November 22, topping her previous high of 12 against Bellarmine earlier this season. The senior has grabbed eight or more rebounds in eight of Wright State's 15 games.
