Magestro-Kennedy Scores Career-High as Raiders Fall at Cleveland State

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team fell to Cleveland State 75-87 Wednesday night despite four Raiders finishing with double-digit points.
Wright State (6-11, 2-4 HL) will stay on the road, heading over to Indianapolis on Sunday, January 11, for a Sunday afternoon matchup with IU Indy. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
Breezie Williams led all players with 20 points, her third straight 20+ point performance and fifth overall. Williams also led the Raiders with four rebounds and five assists. Ellie Magestro-Kennedy finished with a career high 18 points, tying career highs in shots made and three pointers made with six and four, respectively. Wright State also got 14 apiece from Claire Henson and Lauren Scott.
The Raiders started the game out cold, starting the game 0-8 from the floor, and remained scoreless through the first six minutes of play. They then rattled off 10 points in the remaining three and a half minutes, thanks to a pair of threes from Magestro-Kennedy to cut the Cleveland State lead to six entering the second quarter.
The two teams exchanged buckets in the second quarter, with the Raiders outscoring the Vikings by two to trail by seven entering the halftime locker room.
Wright State came out swinging in the second half, going on a 10-4 run to start the third quarter and cut the Cleveland State lead down to one with 7:17 left in the quarter. The Viking would respond right back with a 13-4 run of their own to expand their lead back out to 10, and they never looked back. Cleveland State got the lead as big as 20 points after the Raiders cut it down to six, but they never relinquished the lead to lead the game wire-to-wire.
Izabella Zingaro led the Vikings with 19 points on 58% shooting. Cleveland State also got double-digit scoring outings from Jada Leonard and Macey Fegan, who each scored 16 points. The Viking shot an impressive 50% from the floor and 37% from three.
In the box score, the Raiders trailed the Vikings in rebounds (21-45), points in the paint (20-34), second chance points (3-20), and fast break points (4-17) while leading in bench points (23-20).
