
Raiders lead wire-to-wire Sunday afternoon behind four in double figures

GREEN BAY – The Wright State men's basketball team scored 11 seconds into the afternoon on Sunday and never trailed on the way to a 83-75 Horizon League road victory at Green Bay.

Wright State (15-8, 10-2 Horizon) has now won 10 of its last 11 contests dating back to late December. Coupled with the Friday win at Milwaukee, the Raiders sweep the Wisconsin doubleheader road trip for just the third time in program history, joining the January 2023 and February 2013 trips.

The Raiders stay on the road for a Wednesday night national televised matchup at Robert Morris on ESPNU. Fans can follow the all of Wednesday's action several ways – on ESPNU, via live stats or by tuning in to the Wright State Radio Network – 101.5 FM 'The Fridge' and WING 1410 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play action on the radio feed.

Wright State scored the first four points of the afternoon and 10 of the first 11 points overall to blitz Green Bay (12-12, 7-6 Horizon) and later took a 38-28 lead into the half, tallying 26 of its 38 first half points in the paint. The Raiders led by 13 early in the second half before Green Bay made its push, going on a 16-7 run to pull to within five at 60-55 with eight minutes to play, but Wright State always had an answer and the hosts could never get closer than four points. The Raiders closed the afternoon with eight of the final 12 points – all from the free throw line – to seal the wire-to-wire win.

Kellen Pickett finished with a career-best 21 points, turning in an 8-for-11 shooting mark with eight rebounds, while Solomon Callaghan added 15 points and Dominic Pangonis filled his stat line with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, a pair of blocks and a steal. TJ Burch was the final Raider in double figures with 11 points, all in the second half, as he added five steals, five rebounds and four assists, with Andrea Holden and Michael Cooper each chipping in eight points.

Wright State shot 54 percent in the first 20 minutes on the way to a 47 percent overall shooting afternoon (25-of-53), connecting on six of eight total three-pointers in the second half (8-23, 35 percent) as we the Raiders were 25-of-28 (89 percent) from the free throw stripe. Green Bay connected at 46 percent overall (23-of-50) and hit seven three-pointers (7-16, 44 percent) while also being good at the stripe – 22-of-26 (85 percent).

The Raiders won the rebounding battle, pulling down 19 of their 28 boards on the defensive glass, while 34 total points in the paint and 20 points from the bench.

C.J. O'Hara finished with 21 points to pace three double-digit scorers for Green Bay, who got 18 points from Marcus Hall and 14 from Preston Ruedinger in the home loss.
