Golf concludes action at Border Olympics

LAREDO, TX – The Wright State golf team wrapped up action at the Border Olympics on Tuesday, finishing 13th as a group in a tough field, led by Shane Ochs in 27th individually.

The Raiders carded a final round 21-over 305 as a group on Tuesday. Tournament host and No. 50 Houston was the only team in the field to finish under par at two-under for the tournament.

Ochs finished 27th as the top Raider on the final leaderboard at five-over overall, dropping six spots after a three-over 74 final round. He did have a couple bright spots, including a eagle three on the par five 550-yard 17th hole, along with three birdies.

Behind Ochs, Adam Horn finished 57th at 13-over following his final round six-over 77, while Jake Wittenauer had the best Wright State round of the day with his four-over 75 to jump six spots and finish 60th at 14-over. CJ Scohy was eight-over on Tuesday with a final round 79 on the way to his 18-over total in 71st while Landon Harris was 75th after carding a final round 10-over 81 to finish 29-over for the tournament. Wright State now has nearly a month before getting back to competitive action, with the Raiders next tournament coming March 12-14 at The Peoples Championship in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Wright State finished tied for sixth at the event last season, with Adam Horn and former Raider Brock Rumpke leading the way individually as both finished tied for 16th.
