Women’s Basketball to host annual pink game Wednesday night

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team (9-18, 5-11 HL) will return home on Wednesday night to host Milwaukee for their annual Pink Game. Tip-off inside the Nutter Center is set for 7 p.m., and the first 500 fans will receive a pink Wright State t-shirt.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee enters the Nutter Center at 8-19 overall, and 4-12 in Horizon League play. The Panthers currently sit at 10th in the Horizon League standings, two spots and one game behind the Raiders, making Thursday night's game crucial for both teams.
Junior Jorey Buwalda leads the Panthers in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game on 39.4% shooting. Grace Lomen joins Buwalda in double figures, averaging 10.5 points per game. Lomen is a knockdown shooter, shooting 39.4% from beyond the arc, highlighted by a seven-three-pointer night against Oakland on January 24. Buwalda leads the conference in rebounding, hauling in 232 rebounds for an average of 8.9 per game.
HISTORY VS. MILWAUKEE
Thursday's contest will mark the 73rd meeting between Wright State and Milwaukee, a series the Raiders lead 37-35. The home team has won each of the last six meetings, including a 70-60 Horizon League Tournament quarterfinals win in the Nutter Center on March 7, 2024.
The Raiders fell at Milwaukee on January 31, 70-75. Three Raiders finished in double figures, led by Claire Henson with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. Joining Henson in double figures were Rylee Sagester with 12 points and Lauren Scott with 10 points. Breezie Williams was orchestrating the Wright State offense from her point guard position, dishing out a game-high eight assists.

The Raiders picked up a massive 62-44 win on the road at Oakland Saturday afternoon. The win marks the first time the Raiders have swept the Michigan road trip since the 2019-20 season and the first time under head coach Kari Hoffman.
Wright State got it done on the defensive end, holding Oakland to just 44 points, the lowest they have held any opponent this season. It is also the lowest Wright State has held any opponent to since holding Ohio Christian to 37 on November 17, 2022, and the lowest the Raiders have held a D1 opponent to since holding IU Indy (then IUPUI) to 41 points on March 9, 2021.
Breezie Williams finished with a game-high 24 points, shooting 77% from the floor (10-13) and 100% from behind the three-point line (4-4), while also leading the team with seven rebounds and tying for the team lead in assists with three. Saturday marks Williams' eighth 20-plus-point performance of the season and her third in her last four games. Claire Henson finished with 11 points to join Williams in double digits, her second consecutive game in double figures after turning in 18 Thursday night in Detroit.
After each team hit its first field goal, the Golden Grizzlies led 3-2, but the Raiders would respond quickly with a 10-point run in the middle of the first quarter to take the lead and never look back.
After holding Oakland to eight points in the first quarter, the Raiders would hold them to nine in the second while scoring 15 points of their own to jump out to a 10-point lead at halftime.
Wright State would erupt for 24 points in the third quarter, including an 18-0 run to end the quarter. Breezie Williams has been on fire in the month of February. The senior is averaging 20 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 66.7% from the floor and a stellar 76.5% from behind the three-point line. Williams kicked off the month by setting a new career-high after scoring 28 points against Purdue Fort Wayne Thursday night. The Bryant transfer had a breakout performance on the road at Tennessee State, dropping a then-career-high 27 points with three assists, three rebounds, and two blocks. She followed up her career night in Nashville with a 20-point performance against Wilberforce in just 14 minutes of action. Williams also finished one rebound and one steal short of a triple-double at Florida Atlantic, finishing with a career-high nine steals and nine rebounds. Williams has turned in a team-high six 20-point performances on the season, four of which have come in Horizon League play. Wright State's Ellie Magestro-Kennedy has turned in six double-digit scoring performances in Horizon League play. The redshirt sophomore has scored 10 or more points against Green Bay (10), IU Indy (13), Youngstown State (17), Northern Kentucky (10), Detroit Mercy (16), and highlighted by a career-high 18 at Cleveland State. To go along with the scoring, Magestro-Kennedy has seen her role increase, playing 20+ minutes in eight of her last 11 games.
The redshirt sophomore was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes five years ago. Daily, she is required to check blood glucose (sugar) levels, administer and adjust insulin dosages, and calculate meal carbohydrates (regular and pre- and post-workout/practice/games).
CLAIRE CRASHING THE BOARDS
Claire Henson has been active in the paint for the Raiders, snagging 157 rebounds so far this season. Henson is seventh in the Horizon League with 4.8 rebounds per game. The senior has turned in 12 performances of at least seven rebounds and 10 or more three times.
Henson also has a team high of three double-doubles. The senior has recorded double-doubles against Bellarmine (13 pts. and 12 reb.), Ohio (17 pts. and 15 reb. (career-high)), and Oakland (17 pts. and 10 reb.). Fellow senior Chloe Chard Peloquin recorded the only other double-double for the Raiders in the season opener against Butler (15 pts. and 11 rebs.).

Redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Sagester is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League but is one of the best in the country. The Alexandria, Ohio native is shooting a stellar 38.3% from beyond the arc, which is a team best. Sagester's 49 three-pointers place her fifth in the Horizon League standings. Sagester has made more than one three-pointer in 18 of the Raiders' 26 games, highlighted by a pair of games with five made threes against Wilberforce and Bellarmine.
SIZING UP THE 2025-26 SQUAD
The Raiders return nine players from last season while adding four newcomers (two transfers and two freshmen).
The squad features four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. The roster also expands not only across the nation, with four different states represented (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin), but across the globe, with three international student-athletes (England, Nigeria, Sweden).
