Women’s Basketball hosts Cleveland State for senior night

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team (10-19, 6-12 HL) will return home on Wednesday, February 25, to take on Cleveland State for senior night. Join the Raiders pregame for an on-court ceremony honoring the 2026 Wright State women's basketball senior class. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
Cleveland State enters Wednesday at 21-8 on the season, and 11-7 in Horizon League play. The Vikings are also riding a four-game winning streak with wins over Purdue Fort Wayne, Green Bay, Robert Morris, and IU Indy.
The Vikings feature a high-powered offense that leads the Horizon League in total points with 2,043 and is second in the league in points per game with 70.4. The offense is led by Izabella Zingaro with 16.0 points per game, trailed closely by Colbi Maples with 15.1 points per game. Zingaro and Maples rank second and third, respectively, in the Horizon League in scoring. They are joined in double digits by Jada Leonard, who is 13th in the Horizon League with 12.0 points per game.
HISTORY VS. CLEVELAND STATE
Wednesday's game will mark the 91st all-time meeting between Wright State and Cleveland State, a series the Raiders trail 42-48. Cleveland State has won nine straight games; the Raiders last beat the Vikings in the 2021 Horizon League championship semifinal.
Earlier this season, the Raiders fell to Cleveland State 75-87 at the Wolstein Center. Breezie Williams led all players with 20 points. Williams also led the Raiders with four rebounds and five assists. Ellie Magestro-Kennedy finished with a career-high 18 points, tying career highs in shots made and three-pointers made with 6 and 4, respectively. Wright State also got 14 apiece from Claire Henson and Lauren Scott.
LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders dropped a heartbreaker on the road to the rival Northern Kentucky Norse, falling 62-68.
Breezie Williams finished with a team-high 17 points to lead two other Raiders in double digits Saturday afternoon. Ellie Magestro-Kennedy (13) and Lauren Scott (10) joined Williams in double figures. It is the second consecutive game that Magestro-Kennedy, Scott, and Williams have all scored in double digits after all eclipsing 10 points in Wednesday's win over Milwaukee. Maja Dilen finished with seven rebounds to lead the Raiders, coming up one shy of her career best set against Wilberforce in November. Claire Henson and Grace Okih trailed Dilen closely, each snagging six rebounds of their own. Henson also set a new career-best in steals with four.
Both teams struggled out of the gate, combining for 17 points on 8-13 shooting. Each team knocked down four shots, with the Raiders holding a one-point lead thanks to a made three-pointer by Williams.
Northern Kentucky would outscore the Raiders 22-14 in the second quarter to hold a seven-point lead over Wright State going into the locker room at halftime.
The Norse would start the second half on an 11-4 run, jumping out to their largest lead of the game, 14 points, with 5:51 remaining in the third quarter. Wright State would respond with a run of its own to shrink the Northern Kentucky lead back down to seven entering the final quarter.
After scoring the final two buckets of the third quarter, Williams took over the Wright State offense, scoring nine points in the final 10 minutes to help cut into the Northern Kentucky lead. Scott would hit a big floater with 20 seconds remaining to cut the Norse lead down to one point. The Raiders would turn the ball over twice in their final two possessions of the game, while the Norse iced the game with five free throws.
In the box score, Wright State led Northern Kentucky in rebounds (40-36), second-chance points (9-4), and fast-break points (10-6). The Raiders trailed the Norse in points in the paint (32-38) and bench points (9-13).

The Raiders are fifth in the league with 1,926 points and sixth in points per game, averaging 66.4 points. The Raiders are getting it done from beyond the three-point line, shooting a league best 34.6% and knocking down 8.0 three-pointers per game.

The Wright State offense has been taking care of the ball this season, averaging 13.8 turnovers per game, which ranks second in the Horizon League and tied for 53rd nationally. The Raiders also boast a 1.79 turnover margin, which ranks fourth in the Horizon League.
BREEZIE LIKE A SUNDAY MORNING
Breezie Williams has been on fire in the month of February. The senior is averaging 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 58.9% from the floor and a stellar 68.0% from behind the three-point line. Williams kicked off the month by setting a new career-high after scoring 28 points against Purdue Fort Wayne Thursday night. She was on fire, shooting 85% from the floor and a perfect 5-5 from behind the three-point line.
The Bryant transfer had a breakout performance on the road at Tennessee State, dropping a then-career-high 27 points with three assists, three rebounds, and two blocks. She followed up her career night in Nashville with a 20-point performance against Wilberforce in just 14 minutes of action. Williams also finished one rebound and one steal short of a triple-double at Florida Atlantic, finishing with a career-high nine steals and nine rebounds. Williams has turned in a team-high six 20-point performances on the season, four of which have come in Horizon League play. Williams joined the 1,000 career-point club, scoring her 1,000th point on a layup with 42 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
ELLIE MAGIC
Wright State's Ellie Magestro-Kennedy has turned in eight double-digit scoring performances in Horizon League play. The redshirt sophomore has scored 10 or more points against Green Bay (10), IU Indy (13), Youngstown State (17), Northern Kentucky twice (10 and 13), Detroit Mercy (16), Milwaukee (10), and highlighted by a career-high 18 at Cleveland State. To go along with the scoring, Magestro-Kennedy has seen her role increase, playing 20+ minutes in nine of her last 13 games.
The redshirt sophomore was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes five years ago. Daily, she is required to check blood glucose (sugar) levels, administer and adjust insulin dosages, and calculate meal carbohydrates (regular and pre- and post-workout/practice/games).
CLAIRE CRASHING THE BOARDS
Claire Henson has been active in the paint for the Raiders, snagging 171 rebounds so far this season. Henson is seventh in the Horizon League with 6.3 rebounds per game. The senior has turned in 13 performances of at least seven rebounds and 10 or more three times.
Henson also has a team high of three double-doubles. The senior has recorded double-doubles against Bellarmine (13 pts. and 12 reb.), Ohio (17 pts. and 15 reb. (career-high)), and Oakland (17 pts. and 10 reb.). Fellow senior Chloe Chard Peloquin recorded the only other double-double for the Raiders in the season opener against Butler (15 pts. and 11 rebs.).
RYLEE FROM RANGE
Redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Sagester is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League but is one of the best in the country. The Alexandria, Ohio native is shooting a stellar 39.0% from beyond the arc, which is a team best. Sagester's 53 three-pointers place her fifth in the Horizon League standings. Sagester has made more than one three-pointer in 19 of the Raiders' 28 games, highlighted by a pair of games with five made threes against Wilberforce and Bellarmine.
SIZING UP THE 2025-26 SQUAD
The Raiders return nine players from last season while adding four newcomers (two transfers and two freshmen).
The squad features four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. The roster also expands not only across the nation, with four different states represented (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin), but across the globe, with three international student-athletes (England, Nigeria, Sweden).
