Women’s Basketball to Host IU Indy for Annual Homecoming Game

DAYTON- The Wright State women's basketball team (7-17, 3-10 HL) will remain at home as it welcomes IU Indy into the Nutter Center Saturday afternoon for its annual homecoming game. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m., and the first 500 fans through the door will receive a Wright State/Pepsi Bluetooth speaker.

IU Indy has struggled away from home, with a 1-9 record on the road, its lone win coming at Youngstown State on January 17 by a score of 61-52.
IU Indy features a pesky defense, leading the Horizon League in forced turnovers. The Jaguars force an average of 21.0 turnovers per game. IU Indy does this by stealing the ball better than anyone else in the conference, averaging 11.5 steals per game. That mark places them tied for 26th nationally
Junior Nevaeh Foster leads the IU Indy offense, averaging 12.4 points per game on 40.5% shooting. Olivia Smith joins Foster in double figures, averaging 10.7 points per game. Hailey Smith leads the Jaguars in the paint, snagging a team-high 5.9 rebounds, followed by Foster with 4.4 rebounds.

IU Indy has won the last three meetings between the Jaguars and the Raiders, sweeping the series a season ago, defeating Wright State 75-63 at the Jungle and 80-68 in the Nutter Center.
Earlier this season, the Raiders were tripped up by the Jaguars at the Jungle, falling 59-70. 12 different Raiders saw action on the court with three finishing with double-digit points. Ellie Magestro-Kennedy and Abbie Riddle led the way with 13 points each, followed closely by Rylee Sagester with 12 points. Magestro-Kenndy and Riddle each knocked down five shots from the floor to lead the Raiders, while Sagester knocked down a game-high three shots from deep. It was the Breezie Williams show Thursday night. The senior recorded a new career-high 28 points on 11-13 shooting (85%) and a career best 5-5 from three-point range. Williams also led the Raiders in assists (5) and was tied with Claire Henson for the team-lead in rebounds (8). Henson joined Williams in double figures with 12 points of her own. Lauren Scott was the third Raider in double digits, finishing with 11 points.
The Raiders started hot in the first quarter, connecting on eight of their first 11 shots, including a three-pointer and a pair of free throws, to outpace the Mastodons 19-15 in the 10 minutes.
Wright State would keep its foot on the gas in the second quarter, outscoring Purdue Fort Wayne by five to build a nine-point lead going into the locker room at halftime. Williams led all players at the break with 19 first-half points on an impressive 88% shooting from the floor.

Senior guard Breezie Williams has made an immediate impact for the Raiders, averaging 12.4 points, 3.3 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game in a Raider uniform. The Canton, Ohio, native is shooting 39.9% from the floor and 34.5% from three-point range. The senior is also getting it done on the defensive end of the floor, averaging 2.1 steals per game. In the Horizon League, Williams currently ranks ninth in points per game, sixth in field goal percentage, and tied for fourth in steals per game. On Saturday, January 19, Williams joined the 1,000 career-point club, scoring her 1,00th point on a layup with 42 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The Bryant transfer had a breakout performance on the road at Tennessee State, dropping a then-career-high 27 points with three assists, three rebounds, and two blocks. She followed up her career night in Nashville with a 20-point performance against Wilberforce in just 14 minutes of action. Williams also finished one rebound and one steal short of a triple-double at Florida Atlantic, finishing with a career-high nine steals and nine rebounds. Wright State's Ellie Magestro-Kennedy has turned in five double-digit scoring performances in Horizon League play. The redshirt sophomore has scored 10 or more points against. Green Bay (10), IU Indy (13), Youngstown State (17), Northern Kentucky (10), and highlighted by a career-high 18 at Cleveland State. To go along with the scoring, Magestro-Kennedy has seen her role increase, playing 20+ minutes in seven of her last eight games, all of which saw her in the starting lineup.
The redshirt sophomore was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes five years ago. Daily, she is required to check blood glucose (sugar) levels, administer and adjust insulin dosages, and calculate meal carbohydrates (regular and pre- and post-workout/practice/games).
CLAIRE CRASHING THE BOARDS
Claire Henson has been active in the paint for the Raiders, snagging 145 rebounds so far this season. Henson is fourth in the Horizon League with 6.6 rebounds per game. The senior has turned in 11 performances of at least seven rebounds and 10 or more three times.
Henson also has a team high of three double-doubles. The senior has recorded double-doubles against Bellarmine (13 pts. and 12 reb.), Ohio (17 pts. and 15 reb. (career-high)), and Oakland (17 pts. and 10 reb.). Fellow senior Chloe Chard Peloquin recorded the only other double-double for the Raiders in the season opener against Butler (15 pts. and 11 rebs.).

Redshirt sophomore guard Rylee Sagester is not only one of the best three-point shooters in the Horizon League but is one of the best in the country. The Alexandria, Ohio native is shooting a stellar 38.5% from beyond the arc, which is a team best. Sagester's 45 three-pointers place her fourth in the Horizon League standings. Sagester has made more than one three-pointer in 15 of the Raiders' 24 games, highlighted by a pair of games with five made threes against Wilberforce and Bellarmine.
SIZING UP THE 2025-26 SQUAD
The Raiders return nine players from last season while adding four newcomers (two transfers and two freshmen).
The squad features four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. The roster also expands not only across the nation, with four different states represented (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin), but across the globe, with three international student-athletes (England, Nigeria, Sweden).
