Track & Field turns in multiple school records

ASHLAND, OH – The Wright State indoor track & field teams turned in 22 Top 10 finishes on Friday and Saturday at the Jud Logan Light Giver Open, with Raiders setting three new school records and tying a fourth top mark over the course of the weekend.

On Friday, Oliver Murray cleared 4.65m in the men's pole vault to reset the Wright State record in the event, and he was joined in the record books on Saturday by Gavin Hutchinson's 1:52.95 time in the men's 800m run. Later Saturday, Hutchinson was part of the Raider4x400 group that turned in a new school record mark of 3:23.23 – with Hunter Thompson, Aiden Clendenin and Owen Kirkham on the other legs of the record-breaking group.

Finally, Thomas Cook tied his own school record Saturday afternoon in the men's high jump, clearing 2.11m in his final attempt to reach the mark for the second time this season.

Other Raider highlights in addition to the school records included Eric Dando's first-place finish in the men's 5,000m run with his 14:58.45, while Kaitlyn Miller was first in the women's 5,000m run with her 17:48.59 mark, both coming on Friday. Miller then turned around and finished fourth with a 10:07.81 time in the women's 3,000m run on Saturday. Hunter Thompson took home the top spot in the men's 400m race with his 49.37 time, while Mia Wyngarden was second in the women's 800m race with a 2:16.73 mark.

Wright State is back in action with a pair of meets next week, with contingents at the YSU Last Chance Invitational on Friday and at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday and Saturday.
