Wright State (9-12, 3-0 HL) will continue its 10-game home stand this weekend as Oakland visits Dayton. The Raiders and Golden Grizzlies will face off at 3 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Â
The Raiders kicked off the almost four-hour contest with a four-spot in the bottom of the first inning. Andrew Duncan got Wright State on the board with an RBI groundout. JP Peltier would double the lead just three pitches later, roping an RBI double up the line in left field. Gus Gregory and Manley each got in on the fun with RBI singles of their own to help the Raiders jump out to a four-run lead.
Â
Ohio State would answer Wright State's bottom of the first inning with four runs of their own in the top of the second inning to tie the game up at four. The Raiders would regain the lead in the bottom half of the inning thanks to an RBI groundout by Cy Turner.
Â
The two teams would exchange single tallies again in the third inning, keeping Wright State up one run. Patrick Fultz would bring across the Raiders' lone run in the frame, serving an RBI single out to left center.
Â
Ohio State would strike for three runs in the top of the fourth to jump out to an 8-6 lead.
Â
Wright State would tie the game at eight runs apiece with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Manley would bring home both runs in the frame with a two-run single to left.
Â
Manley would deliver again in the bottom of the eighth inning, giving the Raiders the lead, bringing home Peltier on a sacrifice fly. Duncan would give the Raiders a run of insurance by walking with the bases loaded to bring home Brett Denby from third.
Â
Cooper Robinson got the start on the mound for the Raiders, going one-plus innings before turning the ball over to the Wright State bullpen. Brody Papay and Cooper Gilkerson were the first two arms called upon, combining for 4.2 innings. JJ Thompson picked up his third win of the season, pitching 2.1 shutout innings, limiting Ohio State to just two hits while striking out two Buckeyes. Reigning Horizon League Pitcher of the Week Michael Bilo came on to pitch the ninth and struck out a pair of Buckeyes en route to his second save of the season.
