Zach Weatherford joins the Wright State staff after recently playing in the Cleveland Indians organization. He will serve as the Director of Operations where he will assist in a variety of roles.

"I'm very excited to have Zach back here on staff at Wright State. He was one of the best outfielders to ever put on a Wright State uniform and he's an even better person. He will have a tremendous impact on all of our guys, head coach Alex Sogard said.

The Northmont High School alum played for the Raiders from 2015-2019, where he was a three-time Horizon League Champion and made three NCAA Regional appearances. He broke the single-season stolen base record at Wright State with 36 stolen bases in 2018. He was also named the NCAA Rawlings Division I Gold Glove winner among center fielders in 2019, which is awarded to the nation’s best defender at that position. Weatherford signed with the Cleveland Indians in 2019 after being named First Team All-Horizon League. In his final season with the Raiders, he was a major part of one of the best offensive teams in the history of the program, hitting .345 with nine home runs, 66 RBI and 21 stolen bases. In his career, he stole 78 bases in only 86 attempts, a success rate of 91 percent.  His 78 career stolen bases is sixth on the all time record list at Wright State.

Weatherford earned his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Wright State University in 2019. Â
